Vehicle Detail
PRICED TO SELL: The original Z3 roadster, blue with tan interior and a black convertible top. I'm the second owner, and have owned the car for 6 years, but I am moving and don't have room for it at the new place, otherwise I would keep it. The details: Motor / Drive train:Runs GREAT. I just tooled around 25 miles of curving streets and roads and it performed beautifully at all speeds and all gears. No engine or transmision noises that I could tell, no hesitation, no gear shift issues. I was having real seller's remorse during this drive. AC:I replaced the compressor and both coils a few years ago and the AC still works great, cools the car with the top up. On a sweltering-hot, humid South Texas day it is not going to cool the car like a non-convertible, just about enough to keep a sweat from breaking out. Exterior: - the top is in excellent condition, a couple years old, no leaks. I just drove it in the rain and also through a carwash with no issues. - front roundel (BMW symbol on the hood) is missing. These can be purchased online cheaply. - headlight covers are faded, they could probably be polished to full clarity. New headlights are 250.00 ea online. - paint: some dings and swirls and such, but overall quite presentable. See the pictures. Like any older car it could use a paintjob to make it look new and spiffy. - tires: they have probably 20K miles of use on them and are still in very good shape. No thin or significntly worn areas. - if left in a heavy rain, the trunk does get moist or a little wet. I have not seen a puddle at the bottom of the spare wheel well. Interior: - the driver's seat is torn and needs to be repaired. New seats are not available and good used seats are rare. It just need to be taken to a good upholsterer. - the driver's seat does not lean back, the internal mechanism is worn or broken. The upholsterer may be able to fix this. - needs a new shifter lever boot. Can be purchased online cheaply. - the rear-view mirror is faded. - the digital clock is faded. They all do that, and a new one can be purchased from BMW for 150.00, however it will fade again. - the aft-seat utility box is broken and missing the cover. See the picture. This is about 800.00 from BMW, or it can be removed entirely. - driver's-side seat belt retractor is weak - the belt does not retract. Electronics - has a working after-market Alpine CD/RADIO/XM. - remote unlocking does not work. Both doors have to be manually locked/unlocked with the key. I do not know the cause, it may be simple or cost a few $$ Were I keeping the car, here is what I was going to do: - get both seats upholstered by a renowned upholsterer here in Houston. Probably 500.00 combined both seats. That's my guess - remove the broken aft-seat box - replace the rear-view mirror, boot, a few miscellaneous interior parts Probably 150.00 max new. - good paint job about 3000.00 max. But its really not that bad as is. - have the remote locking/unlocking fixed, cost unknown - replace seat belt retractor 200.00 from online parts dealer Thank you for looking and any feedback is VERY APPRECIATED!
