Vehicle Detail

NO RESERVE!!!!! THIS CAR IS GOING TO SELL ON THE FIRST BID! NOOOOO RESERVE!!! This is one of the last 311 cars made by AMC. Of the millions and millions of cars made by AMC between 1954 and December 1987, this was sequence number 1995 of only 2305 AMC Eagles made in the 1988 model year. This is Officially, a 1988 Eagle Station Wagon sold by Jeep Eagle Dealers in the 1988 Model year the first year of the new division of Chrysler Corporation. Some people refer to this as a 1988 Eagle Eagle (both brand and model name). The reality is it's one of the Final AMC Wagons assembled in November of 1987 in Canada by American Motors Corporation just after the August 1987 Take over by Chrysler. Eagle wagon production ended in early December 1987. Sold by Unruh Motors in Alexandria Minnesota in April 1988. Unruh was formerly a Studebaker Dealer and eventually was a Jeep and AMC Dealer. They are still in business as a transmission shop in Alexandria. The car was delivered to Arthur O. Johnson of Alexandria. Included with the car are two copies of the Build Sheet as well as the original owners manual, keys and dealer key chain and tire warranty. I believe I’m the fourth owner of the car. A Minnesota Title comes with the car with the last signed owner in Minnesota signing the title. The title is blank to be fill out by the new owner. Maine doesn’t issues Titles but the car will come with a Maine Title Letter as well. This is the end of the line for AMC cars. This was the final model year for the 4 wheel drive wagons and sedans based on the Hornet/Concord platform. This car was extremely well maintained and I’ve done nothing to it since I purchased the car in 2010 except oil changes. I’ve taken the car to a few car shows and some Sunday drives and to work once in a while. It gets comments anywhere it goes. The body is in fantastic condition with no known rust areas on the car. I drove this car from Minnesota to Maine without any troubles. It is a 34 year old car, so there are some scratches, but surprisingly few. The car still sports it's original over-sized Eagle Mudflaps, I attribute this to preventing chipping on the rocker panels. I’ve tried to capture the largest and most noticeable scratches in the photos of the tail gate. There is a dent/indentation on the top of the right front fender but no scratch in the paint. The hood appears to have been repainted and needs it a second time. Whoever did it did a poor job. Other wise, the car appears to have it's original paint and wood trim from the factory. The leather wrapped steering wheel is original and looks fantastic. Mechanically, I am not aware of any issues. The car works great and the 4wd system also functions perfectly. The original owner and subsequent owners really took care of this vehicle. This car has high mileage, but you would never know it from the appearance and sound of the engine. I'll have a youtube listing shortly. I believe this is the original engine with no rebuild. It puts out zero smoke. There is a trailer hitch on the car. I do believe that this is a modern classic. I'm sure it will appreciate in value. It's one of the original cross over vehicles. This one is an 88, the last year as well as being one of the nicest color combinations, brown outside, burgundy interior and the wood grain side trim on the side. Just a classic car in great drivable shape. It's also just a nicely equipped car, Power Windows, Seats on both sides, Cruise control, power door locks, Wood trim with the burgundy interior. Just a very pretty car. All the plastic trim on the inside is good. I replaced a lot of the pieces which were broken. I found a parts car in the local salvage yard that had the same color interior. Even the radio speaker covers are nice which normally break apart in the cargo area due to damage from loading and unloading cargo. Finally, you do see other Eagles here on Ebay very often. Eagles themselves aren't rare cars. We have a few locally that are still driven daily. But this is a 1988 model year! It's the end of a line. Sequence Number 1,995 out of only 2,305 cars made. If I did my math right, it's the 311 car from the end of the line. (Please check out the above "Autocheck" from Ebay. It confirms the mileage and the four owners and never having been in an accident) NOO RESERVE Lowered the Start Bid!!! On Mar-31-12 at 00:03:55 PDT, seller added the following information: sorry on the typo, 24 years old, not 34 years old...... :O) On Mar-31-12 at 09:10:12 PDT, seller added the following information: There is another very very nice Eagle Wagon here on ebay currently out west for sale. it looks like a very good example. You should compare this car to that car. It will give you a very good perspective on the styling. The non-wood grained trimmed Eagles had excessive pin-striping on the car and additional moldings. Frankly, I think the Wood Grain Trim looks better and less cluttered. Again, everyone has their own opinion. Other subtle differences. The end of the line of the Eagle used a different hood. Rather than the Concord hood, the later model Eagles used the power bulged hood of the Gremlins and Spirits. There is no molding down the center with a hood ornament, that was eliminated on the later Eagles for a cleaner more powerful look. The other Eagles currently on line here for sale don't have the white wall tires. Again, it's a matter of taste, but I think the White Walls set off the Wood nicely. Finally, compare the appointments, The 88's had a lot of items standard which had been options earlier, for example remote mirrors on both sides of the car (remote on right doesn't work but it's still nice to have that extra mirror). Just pointing out some subtle differences. On Apr-01-12 at 10:37:01 PDT, seller added the following information: More videos of the car out side being driven. first video, just showing the electrics that work fine, Illuminated Vanity Mirror, front and rear wipers, Stereo. Forgot to show the seats and three windows that work. Tilt Steering Wheel also works fine. Car driving down the road. I couldnt' get it faster than 30 mph. The car isn't insured or registered so I drove it around the neighborhood. I didn't want to chance it and get arrested on the main road. the road is bumpy so you hear the bumps but the car rides smooth. Last, another walk around in day light so you can see better. Just a note, I noticed a few things I had forgotten about the car. Since it's been sitting, some oil has dripped from the valve cover gasket and I could smell that burnning but that will burn off in a half hour of normal driving. The wheel arches have a few scratches here and there, they weren't noticible indoors but in the day light, i could see them a bit better. On the left rear quarter, near the 4 wheel drive emblem, there is a parking lot crease that goes from the bottom of the wood greain straight up to the trim. It's really not noticible but I saw it clearer out side, you cant see it in the videos or pictures..
