Vehicle Detail

You are looking and maybe bidding at a 1975 Suzuki RE 5 . A very rare bike with a motor that runs and has incredible compression. ( real hard to kick this bike over with the kick sarter.... see my video...) at the link below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8ESYc7yWBA&feature=youtu.be I am selling this bike for an older friend of mine who collected these years ago and bought this bike from the original owner ( hence the milage is true), It sat in his garage since 2001. He ran out of space and brought the bike over to my place with two more project RE 5 s and tons of parts , manuals etc.( they are not part of this auction) The paint ( gas tank/side covers) is original and in real nice condition no dents at all, ( except 2 minor scratches on the rear top part of tank, , The tire have no dryrot and have about 70% tread left . I watched other RE5 s and I noticed that most of them had some extend of surface corosion. As shown in the pictures there is some pitting on the front fender,( rear fender/taillight are real nice), front rim has some surface corrosion, the rear rim looks ok,, emblems are nice, the engine side covers could use some repolishing, seat cover was replaced and has no rips but is not the original factory one. The electric and all gauges work fine, ( the elec start button doesn t seem to make contact every time but the electric starter works). The header pipes are real nice, the 2 mufflers have some surface corrosion on the upper rear section (I touched the black side heatshields up) Batterie doesn t hold the charge long enough and should be replaced. Also the fork upper tubes and the chrome dustcaps have some corrosion, Fork dampening is good and the forks are not leaking. Rob did rebuild the carb at one time with all new jets etc; It seems to want to run better with the choke half to 3/4 ways open after it warms up. This bike has a lot of power with a wide powerband not like the real narrow power band as 2 stroke or modern small displacement high rev 4 stroke engines. The brakes, tires ( about 70 % tread left no dry rot) and transmission/clutch work fine and it shifts good through all gears with the indicator working. All in all this is a real time piece and it will surely become one day a very sought after collectors piece; ther are not many of these bikes around; and its hard to find a running example. With not too much money and work this bike could become a real rare eample of what Suzuki once build to be ahead of others with a very uniqe and inventive concept of a 70s motorcycle bike design.I will gladley provide copies of all manual/factory workshop instructions etc that I have ( lots...) The bike is sold as is where is and the buyer must arrange for pick up. A $ 500.00 depost via paypal is due within 24 hours after auction end, the remaining balance is due within 36 hours after auction end per bank transfer or cerified bank chek. I will try to assis to ship overseas but buyer has to arrange for pick up etc. I have send several bikes to Australia / NewZealand etc, and some times even build a crate. However this is not part of the auction; just try to point out that I will try to help with the shipping of the bike. The reserve is set moderately low as this is a running RE 5. Thanks for looking and good luck biddingOn Mar-19-12 at 09:28:50 PDT, seller added the following information: I just posted an advice/question that one watcher e mailed me. The VIN sticker reads MFD IN 3/75. So for me that means it as a 1975 Suzuki. That is the time when it was made. It might be called a 1976 model and might have been sold in 1976 or even in 1977 or 1978; either way it was made when it was made. I don t lie about my age and I can call myself a 66 model but Im really a 1956 dude.. Thank You for the advice and worry; please feel free to retract your bid if this fact was a decision making part of your bid.On Mar-19-12 at 11:50:22 PDT, seller added the following information: I just talked to Rob and he told me that the title says ;" year 76" , I guess that should be enough info for everyone.
