Vehicle Detail
Hello thanks for checking out my listing the car is a 1966 chevy impala, i purchased this car a few years ago. i began by pulling the engine, transmission and gas tank the engine is the stock chevy 283 V8 the car was running when i purchased it and i drove it home i took the engine apart down to the block installing new gaskets oil pump any damaged or worn internal components a new alluminum head, chrome valve covers and new four barrel carb and air cleaner the distrubutor cap points are new but it is still an old style dist cap and coil my intentions were to eventually switch the car over to a electronic ignition. Since the transmission seemed to be ok i only took it out changed the filter, cleaned and painted it before installling with a new transmission mount back in the car with the engine. I took the front clip off and installed a power brake system that includes new disc brakes i cannot recall the name brand but i have any and all info that came with the kit. the power brake system kept the rear drums and added a proportioning valve i have driven the car since the engine has been put back in but i was told i could really use an upgraded altenator that would create a better spark the engine has black headers, a high output fuel pump, a new starter. The car also had to have new motor mounts as the old ones were junk. The car has all new shocks as well as springs and i had to have spring mounts fabricated on the rear, the car still has its original fuel tank and the plan was to swap it out since the one still in the car is original and having problems picking up fuel so i had been using a temp tank to move the car i built a custom grill. the car had some rust issues mainly in the trunk so i did weld new steel in the trunk as well as the driver and passenger sides in front. I did take the car down to bare metal and removed the trim strip down the side i must admit there are some areas on the car that are not as smooth as they should be. As far as the bumpers the front has very little to no damage and the chrome is fair the lower fairing under the bumper is painted now as far as the rear bumper its now painted but the plan was to get a new rear bumper. the car at some point had newer mufflers added so they are still there the exhaust does have new chrome tips in place. The last major thing i have done to the car was a new set of 20 inch wheels and tires that are approx a year old the tires have no more than 30 miles on them and the car has been stored indoors up to this year. This car would make a great start for someone who is looking for a project car...good thing it has quite a few things you wont have to do and some things i have done that could be done better. if you have any questions let me know .....PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE PICTURES OF THE CAR ARE ALL OF THE SAME CAR DURING DIFFERNT STAGES OF THE RESTORATION THE INTERIOR IS NOT FINISHED THE RED PAINT JOB IS NEW BUT I STOPPED WORKING ON THE CAR DURING WET SANDING THIS IS A GREAT START TO A RESTORATION PROJECT I JUST DO NOT HAVE THE TIME TO FINISH THE CAR. The ONE interior picture of the car is how the interior looks now has all seats and most trim pieces.
