This VIN will not work with Car Fax or Auto Check to generate a vehicle history report because it is a gray market car (privately imported car, imported by an individual through official channels). Also eBay's system will not allow this VIN to be entered in the VIN spot when creating an auction and so eBay instructs me to do their standard practice when their computer will not take a VIN for any reasons: In that case sellers are instructed to enter all ones (1's) or all nines (9's) in the space where the VIN goes on the auction summary which is what I have done. On Mar-09-12 at 15:12:23 PST, seller added the following information: Looks Great & Runs Great, Recently Taken Out of Long Term Storage Worldwide Shipping OK - Europe, South America, Australia, AfricaThis is privately imported European specification Porsche 911SC -- there are various differences between it and a U.S. version of the car which I will discuss below Runs and drives great. Brakes need attention, as any brakes would from not being used regularly in many years -- the brake pedal moves and isn't frozen but offers too much resistance and sticks in place rather than returning to the disengaged position, therefore the "pedal cluster" (the pedal cluster is the combined hinge on the floor for the clutch pedal and brake pedal) needs to be rebuilt. When disconnected from the linkage, the pedal is very stiff. The linkage, however, does return to the up position when not encumbered by the faulty pedal hinge. That is the limit of my investigation and the limit of my mechanical ability. A complete brand new and unopened bronze bushing rebuild kit for the pedal cluster is included with the auction. It is not a complex job to do, which you can verify by calling any Porsche mechanic. After giving the pedal cluster new bushings, the brakes would need to be bled, serviced, etc., as the pedal goes to or close to the floor. Absolutely beautiful interior. Some dash cracks as expected from age Electric power front seats -- both driver-side and passenger side are electric and very comfortableRear seats match the upgraded front seatsComplete Original Seats (front and rear) ALSO included with the auction -- they have been shrink wrapped with heavy-duty transport cellophane film and have been neatly placed inside the car upside down on top of the newer upgraded seats currently installed in the carUpgraded rotary Air Conditioner compressorOriginal colder R12 (vs. R134a) freon. You can legally use a product called "Freeze 12" available in individual small cans to add freon when necessary, or you can convert it to R134a (which although better for the environment, also doesn't cool as efficiently) Original Composite Beam H4 European BOSCH headlampsOriginal Jack & Unused Vredestein Collapsible Spare Tire/Wheel included Numbers matching Original EngineNumbers matching Original Transmission Doesn't leak oil on the groundIncludes front genuine German license plateIncludes rear genuine German license plateIncludes rear Florida collectible license plateIncludes owner's manual print Clean and clear title in-handThe Certificate of Title is in our family name and if you lose it it can be replaced for a fee Shifts through all gears fine (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and Reverse)Parking brake (emergency brake) works fine Clutch feels fineTires are not dry-rotted but are old from long-term storage Suspension feels fine Steering feels fine Engine runs impeccably well Sunroof working finePower mirror works fineHeadlights (low and high beam) and parking lights front and rear working fineWipers working fine Fog lights disconnected Windows, turn signals and radio inoperative. Lauderdale Airport, and 12 minutes to West Palm. The zip code is 33414. Wellington is an upscale world-recognized equestrian community near Palm Beach, FL.Free courtesy airport pickup from West Palm Beach International (PBI), Ft. Lauderdale International (FLL) and Miami International Airport (MIA) for those who wish to fly in and drive home (after getting brakes worked on, replacing belts as a safety measure, etc.). Also, courtesy car transport coordination is available to anywhere in the world through a preferred discounted shipping agent. Email thru eBay me for transport quote instructions...you'd be surprised how inexpensive it is to move a car across the country or world when you use the right channels who are working on repeat businessIf you contact me before the auction end about transport, I may offer to contribute to your transport costs as just a sign of good faith and well wishes...I want the car to go to someone who will appreciate it even if it's going far away.I will contribute $50 toward an official Certificate of Authenticity via Porsche Cars of North America, if you choose to order one (CoA's are very nice...they arrive in a presentation folder and have a raised seal). I believe they currently cost about $110, depending on the exchange rate...so your effective cost will be much less after my contribution. They show you original information about the Porsche: Port of Importation, Colors, Engine Number, etc. I am willing to entertain/receive outright offers for purchase before auction ends if that is more your style vs. bidding -- send me an offer through the eBay messaging system. I do not have a specific Buy-It-Now price in mind, but when I hear an adequate offer I may accept it, or I will simply wait for the auction to run its course Question: Why would someone prefer a European-market privately imported Porsche 911SC? Why would someone go to all the trouble of privately importing it into the United States? Answer: A "gray market" or European-market (also known as a European spec car) or RoW (Rest of World) 911SC is something very special, rare and better in a number of important ways, including: 1) 30-horsepower more right out of the factory than the U.S. version of the same car 2) Higher compression engine from the Porsche factory without modification 2) No horsepower reducing smog equipment such as a "smog pump" 3) Lower to the ground than the U.S. version of the same car without doing modifications -- looks as the design engineers intended it to look, which is more attractive and appealing than the U.S. version. 5) Amber-color rear turn signals from the factory whereas U.S. version has red (the Germans believed red signals could be confused for a brake light or vice versa, so they instituted the amber signal convention law) 6) Better looking, easier to service, and brighter H4 composite beam headlights from the Porsche factory (vs. less attractive 1950s-1980s standardized U.S. required sealed beams, later determined by the US Federal government to be an unnecessary requirement) 7) Front fender mounted supplemental turn signals (obvious safety advantage of making cars in parallel lanes side-by-side aware of active turn signal) vs. U.S. version which had no signal at all on the side of the car 8) The investment value is always higher for a Gray Market Porsche 911SC, and they are projected to increase in value more than similar U.S. versions Getting to know me, your seller: I let you know all of the following not to somehow impress you (not that it necessarily would), but rather only to convey that I have a reputation to uphold. I believe that is important information for a buyer to know. I am in my late-30s. I am a serious fellow and there is nothing being intentionally hidden about this Porsche, as so many people do in ads, descriptions and auctions. You don't get 100% positive feedback over 13 years of registration by hiding things. If there is something you should know about the car of which I am aware, it's available to you in the auction. I have gone out of my way by shooting hundreds of photos not just of every imaginable angle, but also in multiple lighting conditions, even multiple cameras, and I did a number of videos -- by doing this you don't have to rely on a seller's "interpretation" of characteristics of the car, but instead you can draw your own conclusions from what you see. My goal is that if you use everything I provide to you, you get a far more thorough demonstration of the car than if you came to see a car in person. I have also gone out of my way to make sure people are satisfied. I work hard to make sure I get specific positive feedback comments; I don't take it lightly, and it means a lot to me. I look forward to getting to know you if you'd like me to (or if you'd like to buy the Porsche without me getting to know you, that's OK too!)! Use the combination of the photos, videos and text for full disclosure, with more emphasis on the photos and video as the description is clearly not intended to be exhaustive or definitive. As eBay says, a single picture is worth a thousand words. eBay strongly recommends the best practice of providing as many photos as possible and letting the photos do the talking, rather than trying to describe in words what can be seen in a photo or trying to recreate in words what already is in provided photos. That said, I still give you my impression of the Porsche and some casual observations of its characteristics and features, however, again, these are not to be considered definitive or absolute. Rather, you have photographs and video at your disposal to draw your own conclusions. It has been many years that this car has been in long-term storage and many years since it was actively used. With a good battery it started up without doing anything to it. It hasn't been examined with a professional eye which in fact should be done for safety checks before you drive it on the street and rely on it. Example: the engine drive belts are very old. I have been registered on eBay 13 years and have 100% positive feedback. If your impression of a picture/video or conclusion drawn from what you see differs from what I've written or said, then your opinion should govern your opinion and not what I've written or said. If you have any questions, message me through the eBay messaging system, which eBay indicates is always the preferred method of communication. I will answer promptly. My family has asked me to make garage space for them..I sold some other Porsches of mine from my collection in anticipation of this. In collaboration with my family I made the decision also to sell this one. I may acquire another vintage Porsche some day as they are indeed beautiful and remarkable cars, especially this one. This particularly beautiful and rare European Specification Porsche makes this the pinnacle of vintage Porsche auctions. I wish the new owner of this stunning 31+ year old car unlimited and unending happiness with his or her new acquisition, and hope it goes to someone who appreciates it.AUCTION RULES: Full payment is due within within 7 calendar days of auction ending by either cash in-person to be transacted at a bank during banking hours or bank wire transfer only. (Once you receive a fraudulent cashier's check from a buyer, you'll never accept another one either!) If you insist on using a check, the check may only be drawn from a bank with a South Florida branch and it will be made out to your name where you will then convert it into cash in front of me or my representative before paying. If you don't do this you'll have to wait a minimum of 6 weeks for the check to fully clear and you will incur unavoidable storage charges. If you pay by cash in-person, I will meet you in a local branch to accept the cash and it will be deposited immediately and obviously the bank teller will check each currency note for legitimacy. Pickup is also due within 14 calendar days, and may not occur until funds have cleared. Storage for the first 14 days is 100% FREE. There is a storage charge of $350/week beyond 14 days, and is limited to 2 extra weeks (for a total of 4 weeks of storage). If you want to avoid any of these storage fees but can't pick up the car for an extended period, even for months, I can set you up with a public storage unit under your name, put the car in there and FedEx you the keys, title, etc., as long as you have paid in advance. You must read the entire auction description, follow the rules, and study each picture and video fully. I do not offer any kind of a warranty on anything that I sell, ever, as a matter of personal philosophy -- this Porsche is As Is with no warranty. You get the Porsche as pictured, captured in the video, and described, a clean a clear title, anything mounted on the car as pictured (such as license plates) or inside the car (such as jack, radio, etc.), and a single key. no reserve -- no reserve -- no reserveThe following slideshow automatically displays the first 100 of the 980 available pictures in the album. To view the remainder of them, and to be able to zoom in, etc., on the bottom right of the slideshow window right-click your mouse near where it says "View all" and then select "Open in new window" or "Open in new tab." That will keep this auction page open while you are viewing the pictures in a separate web browser window or tab: On Mar-10-12 at 21:37:25 PST, seller added the following information: I am posting a demonstration movie below this additional description text, but before I give an introduction to that, I wanted to mention a few other details. There are two additional European Market (RoW - Rest of World, non-US market) specifications that I didn't mention in the above list of differences and benefits compared to a US-market model. They are (the list continued from #8 above on to 9 and 10 below): 9) Better looking and smaller rear rubber "bumperettes," spaced sufficiently far apart to accommodate a wide European license plate vs. a narrow US plate. The Porsche designers intended the impact bumpers to have such appropriately small bumperettes, and only used large less attractive one on the US-market 911SCs to satisfy US federal regulations intended to limit auto insurance company from paying out on very slow impacts. Bottom line is that the US version bumpers are generally accepted to be less attractive and certainly heavier. 10) There is a single rear red lens fog light manufactured by Hella on European-market SC's. There is supposed to be only one light, on the left side, which this car has. This is to make the car visible to vehicles traveling behind it at potentially great speeds in dense fog even at large distances behind the leading car. The engine has braided stainless-steel spark plug ignition wires. If you price them out, you'll see that's about a $600 upgrade. The car has hand-painted wheel center-caps which if you price those out, you'll see those are $500 for a set. There is a built-in/integrated Bell radar detector. Onward to the video introduction... The following movie is a great demonstration of the car and you should watch it. Let me apologize in advance for the shaking of the camera and some angles -- it's a difficult task to hold a movie camera, shift, steer, brake, and watch out for traffic -- you need at least 3 hands to do that, and I only have 2! I had to let go of the camera while it was still filming a couple times and pointed it toward the steering wheel other times for a second or two, so thanks for your patience and tolerance. The movie consists of a 360-degree walkaround, door/bonnet/engine cover demo, narration, cold start, and road driving demonstration. The video is 14-minutes long. Once the video starts to play, feel free to click the button at the bottom-right corner of the embedded video window to watch it full-screen and then click your Esc (escape) key on the top-left of your keyboard to return to the eBay listing for the 911. Here is the movie:
