The 1977 Lotus Esprit I am selling here, is for a good friend who used to own Shadowflight Restorations in Seattle. Bill designed and built this car for his son who found after a first drive that it was really more car than he was comfortable driving. He now wants to take advantage of a down real estate market and use the proceeds to help him buy a house.The quality of the work performed on this car was incredible, paint upholstery, custom coachwork, it is all superbly done.The car does run and does just drive but has been stored inside for the last several years and not driven recently and needs sorting. We have drained the fuel and have had it fired up but the car needs some completion and will require some carb rebuild work (likely needed from sitting) among other things, for example the sound system is still in the boxes, having never been installed. There will be some electrical issue to contend with as well, most likely needed because the car has been sitting. Brakes are fairly flat, and it will need attention in this area as well.The door handles were removed in preference of a remote activated system, this too has never been completed how ever all the bits are there to do this if that is what the new owner wants to do. The car also comes with the original external door handles should you decide to retrofit them.The carpet trim around the engine bay has never been finished either.Below is a description written by the man who built the car. 1977 Lotus Esprit This car started off as a "barn find" when these cars were not only not sought after, but relatively few people even cared about them. The front and rear rubber bumpers were typically distorted and funky. Replacing them with originals would have just re-created the same situation a short time down the road. The foam used has air bubbles that expand and contract with the ambient temperature changes until the distortion becomes inevitable. When the bumpers are removed it becomes obvious that by modifying the front end a "Lotus" style grill can be fabricated and the pop-up head lights can be replaced by more aerodynamic, covered style. A lower front spoiler is more aggressive looking as well as providing more down force by eliminating some air flow underneath that would cause lift. There are also louvers over the front wheels that draw air from underneath the car which also induces down-force. On either side of the grill there are some fog lights and inlet vents for cool air for the front breaks. On the sides, the door handles have been shaved and air inlets placed and plumbed in the rockers to bring cool air into the rear, inboard disk brakes. In the rear a "ground effects" look is the most appropriate finish at the bottom while an adjustable rear wing balances the down force front to rear. The engine cover has been modified to allow the polished and painted engine to be seen through the rear window. The roof scoop is plumbed to the engine cover to supply cool air to engine. The engine cover itself has been painted and striped to match the paint on the rest of the car. The brake calipers and wheels are also painted to match. The interior has been done to match with red inserts in the black seats and door panels. Everything, including the headliner, dash, rear panel and seats are then piped in red on black. The engine itself has two, twin choke Delorto carbs and custom exhaust. The original exterior door handles come with the car should the new owner want to convert it back to stock external door handles. Any questions please ask, the amount of money and time spent on this car is many, many, times what the new owner is likely to have invested.
