Vehicle Detail

Please Read Entire Listing! I will try to describe this car as fairly as possible. Please see my feedback, many people think the items I sell are better than described. It is time for me to look for another project, so I need to sell my 1970 Fury Convertible to make room. For more pictures, send me a message, and I will give you a link to my website. Ebay won't let me put the website address in the listing...???? There are pics there of what the car looked like shortly after I bought it too. If you go to Google and type in 1970 Fury Convertible, then find Jack's 1970 Fury Page....that's it!!!! The Story....I bought this car in 2000. It was a project that needed a fair amount of work, but it was a very solid car. It was red with a black bench seat interior. It is a Fury III, and for 1970, was the only model Fury that was available as a convertible. There were only 1,952 Fury Convertibles built in 1970. In 1971, no Fury convertibles were built. They only had a sunroof option from 1971 through 1978. I did a full restoration on this car in 2001. For all I know, this car could have a million miles on it. The odometer does not mean much on a car over 40 years old. I did all the work myself except the new top, and I know this car inside and out. I bought this car with all the parts to transform it into a Sport Fury. Since 1969 was the last year for the Sport Fury convertible, I thought it would be nice to build the 1970 version that Chrysler never did. Interior....Although the majority of the work on this car was done over 10 years ago, I would still drive it across the country. When I did the car, I put a bucket seat interior from a 1971 Chrysler 300, Moved the shifter to the floor and added a console from a 1966 Dodge Monaco. The door panels from a 1970 Sport Fury, Steering wheel from a 1971 Road Runner. The stereo is from a 1997 Dodge Ram and looks in place with the dash. Mechanical....The Engine and Transmission is from a 1968 Plymouth Fury. It is a 383 2bbl engine, with a factory 4bbl intake manifold, and an Edelbrock carb. The engine is 9.5 to 1 compression ratio with the 2bbl cam. This allows use of regular gas. I installed Hooker headers, going into 2.25" pipes, stock mufflers, and Cuda exhaust tips. I also upgraded the brakes from non power drum, to power front disc brakes. All brakes are new within the last 5 years, and all is factory 1970 correct. I also rebuilt the entire front end including ball joints, control arm bushings, tie rod ends, etc. Installed a Firm Feel steering box that feels just as good as the steering on my 2005 Dodge truck. I installed new B.F.Goodrich Radial T/A's last summer and they have less than 500 miles on them. I had the alignment done at the same time. This car drives and tracks down the road better than new. I have driven this car about 50,000 miles since 2001. Many trips to where ever, and several from NC to PA for the Chrysler Nat's in Carlisle, and to see family up there. This old car drives solid and does not rattle or shake like most convertibles do. Exterior....I did all the body work and paint myself. I work in a restoration shop, and used my learned talent over many years to restore this car. I did all the right steps to eliminate any future rust. The floor pans and trunk never had rust. All was coated on the inside with Eastwood's rust encapsulator. It needed outer quarter panel work. I installed a lower quarter on the passenger side. The seam is under the side molding. The driver side just needed a few patches. Everything was either painted on the inside with rust encapsulator or POR-15. The car only had minor patchable rust on the lower parts of the front fenders. I replaced the hood because the old one had too many dents. I used very little filler on this car. I painted the car 1970 Chrysler Burnt Orange. This was a factory color on these cars. The sides are a little wavy, but at least I know that it is mostly metal and not plastic. I had the front bumper re-chromed and the back bumper is NOS. The new top is 10 years old and has a glass back window. I put it up and down all the time and no problems. It has top boot that is the same age, and uses the factory plastic clips. All works with ease. All lights work as they should, and all the windows roll up and down and seal well with very little wind noise. Cool Additions....Like I said, the car is a Fury III. I re-badged the car as a Sport Fury. I installed the hidden headlight grill, changed the rear finish panel and everything on the car to be a Sport Fury. I did the trim on the side to look like the one that came on the 1970 Barracuda Gran Coupe. The side mirrors are from a 1973 Cuda. I have been told by many Fury guys that I build the car that Chrysler should have. Now for the bad....Not too much here. It is a 10+ year old restoration and there are a few marks here and there. The car still shows well and lots of people come to me and say...I used to have a Plymouth Fury back in .... The worst spots on the car are the cracks that have formed on each side of the panel between the trunk lid and the base of the convertible top. The factory used lead in the area of these seams, and there was a little rust in these areas I had to cut out and repair. I did not know that there is a little stress in these areas and the filler has cracked. I would have made a factory seam and put seam sealer there if I had to do it over. Also, the rear seal of the motor leaks a little. The transmission leaks a little at the pan gasket. I park it in the garage with a cookie sheet under it. The joys of having an old car!!! It is not a muscle car and it won't jerk you around, but a great cruiser for the car shows and trips to the beach or mountains. Extras....I have a small pickup load of spare parts that go with the car... if the buyer wants them. Some hard to find stuff that is good to have as spares. The car is located at my house and can be viewed by appointment. I live 35 miles NW of Charlotte NC. If you have a friend near me, they would be more than welcome to come see the car. This car does have a clear NC title in my name. Payment.... $1000.00 within 5 business days from auction end, the balance in cash when the car is picked up. If you don't have the money, if you can't figure out how to get it shipped, if it will make your wife mad, or if you have any doubts...Please Don't Bid!!!! If you have questions....please contact me. Thank You for Looking!!!!!
