Vehicle Detail
This is a 1968 Porsche 912 that was a private import into the USA. The original US owner was stationed in Germany during the late 60's, bought the vehicle new in Stuttgart, drove it there for a few years before shipping it home in 1971. The car has since been repainted its original green, but as you will see from the photos has quite a bit of cancer. Bubbling rust and some holes through the fenders. The floor pans appear to be in good condition, but the heater duct that runs under the passenger side floor has rotted out from the inside. The drivers side sill panels are not too bad and doesn't have the same issues as the passenger side heating ducts. The rust is pretty bad around the rightside rear outboard torsion bar mount, but all of this rust damaged metal parts could be fabricated and repaired. The rightside rear torsion bar is broken and this corner of the car sits on its bumpstop. There is a small rust hole through floor pan directly below the brake master cylinder, where brake fluid has leaked and caused corrosion on the pan. The engine runs smooth and quietly and car does drive. The carburettors will need rebuilding. The 5 speed transmission shifts nicely. The brakes do work. The engine has small oil leaks, to be expected for a car that has sat for many years in storage. The interior is black and appears to be in decent shape for its age. The carpets and floor mats are okay. The dash has a crack in its pad. The car in general is very original and would make a great restoration project or good for parts. You be the judge. This car is not being portrayed as being in concourse condition, far from it, but in the right hands could be restored into a very nice car. Check the photos out, have the car inspected, ask all questions before bidding and the auction closes. This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty. I have a signed original title that is clear, the winning bidder will be the second owner of this relic. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
