Vehicle Detail

This is a very rare 1955 Studebaker President Speedster.( Probably the lowest mileage in the world: 1200 miles from new). Firewall tag: 6H K7 547 I am selling this car for a friend who is moving and does not have the facilities to complete the project. This car has been in his family since new and the complete history is known. His great uncle purchased the car new in Oklahoma and only drove it a few miles before passing away. The car was passed on to my friends father and the car was put in storage for over 30 years. He was a professional racing mechanic and on the road so the car sat. After retiring from racing he opened a vintage restoration shop in Dallas, TX and in his spare time began a frame off restoration of the Studebaker. All the mechanicals were stripped, the bare frame was stripped, dipped and painted black. Suspension and steering rebuilt (all new bushings and bearings).Brake system rebuilt with all new steel lines. New exhaust system, drive shaft etc. 4 speed Hurst shifter (shifter was originally on the column) Radiator, water pump, generator etc all new. Ford 9” rear end installed. Transmission rebuilt. The original V engine ( 259 cu.in. ?) was completely rebuilt with new pistons and bored .060” over. Offenhauser intake with 2 Weber 4bbl carbs. The hood is louvred , frenched headlights and the outside vent doors were filled in. All the work was done in the 80’s to 90’s The car is not rusty and does run and drive although it has been sitting for 10 years. The paint is poor at best and the complete interior and trunk need to be redone. The Novi surround air con. and misc. trim pieces are in the trunk as well as an original Studebaker supercharger. All the glass is in excellent condition This is definitely a ‘work in progress’ but a rare rod when completed. My friends father passed away a few years ago and he inherited the car with the intention of finishing it. I am not an expert on Studebaker but I do know the car and family. Please call if you have any questions. Brian: 770 630 4273. Payment by cash or check only.
