Vehicle Detail
1958 CHEVROLET SPORT COUPE Original Texas Car! HISTORY & DOCUMENTATIONA gentlemen in Houston Texas bought this '58 Impala Sport Coupe in Houston from Bob Robertson Chevrolet, Inc (dealership) on 6/4/58. I have a copy of the Certificate of Title from the state of Texas where the Title was issued on 7/3/58 which would be about correct for timeframe in would take DMV to produce title. The car came as Cashmere blue with blue tri-color seats, no power steering or power brakes. It did come with a radio and a reverb knob on right side of dash next to the clock to adjust sound front and back. Car is equipped with the original 348cu block with 4bbl carb. It also still has the original Power-glide Trans. The gentlemen drove and registered this car in Houston each year from 1958 through 1970. (I have registration slips for the vehicle for each year thru 1970.) Something apparently happened to the car that year that caused him to park the car in a shed and never drove it again...even though he owned the car for a total of 48 years until 2006. A younger man in Houston found the car in 2006 and with the best intentions put it in his storage building. Even though he had the best of intentions to restore the car, he only pulled and cleaned the plugs, put a new battery in its place, got all lights to come on but, could not get juice to starter. Hence the car sat in storage into 2007 when my son and I discovered and bought the car. I mentioned earlier that I considered this to be a one-owner car (two-owner if you want to get technical) as the current Texas title has the original owner's name on it as seller, and the second man's name is on it. Date of this Texas Certificate of Title is dated 6/28/06. CURRENT CONDITIONThe car currently runs and is moveable but has no brakes. The car is currently stored in an enclosed shop where we started the restoration process. I have all the chrome and stainless for sides of the car and almost all of it is in good shape (some small dings that can be removed than polished). Bumpers are straight but need re-chroming. There is a several quarter size holes in the front fall of the hood, a quarter size area on front drivers roof and some metal work needs fixing along rear roof scoop. Trunk lid also has a couple of small dime to quarter size perforations. Front fenders, inner fenders, radiator support, and front toe floor board are in really in good condition. Rear quarters around wheel openings will need some attention but again, I think inner lip can be welded back up. Interior is complete albeit "mickey mouse" and friends destroyed foam inserts of the rear seat cushions. Front seat cover is still intact but will also need to be replaced at some point in time. After taking parts of the car down to bare metal, I really like the way the car is coming out and really considered clear coating car over bare metal with new tri-blue interior. I’ve put a set of white side-wall tires on her with black rims and really like the old school look. Could be a driver with a little effort at this point but car is worthy of a full resto. Again, big buck cars when complete! CONTACTPlease feel free to contact me if you have any questions, would like to see additional pictures or set up a time to come see the car. I am located in West Kentucky 45 miles south of Paducah. $500 nonrefundable deposit is due within 24 hours of auction end via Pay Pal. Buyer arranges shipping, however, I will consider meeting the buyer depending on the distance and at the expense of the buyer. Happy Bidding! Bob(270) 759-9070
