This auction is for a very touching memorial plaque dedicated to "Sharky", a 1973 Volkswagen. The car itself is not included, because evidently Sharkey is no longer with us, but has long since gone to that great wrecking yard in the sky. I often feel sad when I find old family photos for sale at yard sales or estate sales...the thought that the loved ones in the pictures are now being abandoned to strangers is depressing. But this one is worse yet. If you are looking at this auction, and if you have read this far, it certainly behooves you to consider rescueing the memory of Sharkey from oblivion. He deserves this...it can be done only by a true VW enthusiast ( I am reliquishing this item since I am a classic British car enthusiast and accordingly I would not be able to provide the required reverence in a genuine way). I have tried my best to take pictures that do not include my reflection, with mixed success...but rest assured that when mailed to the winning bidder, any remaining reflection will have been thoroughly scrubbed off the brass. The engraved brass is mounted on wood, walnut by the looks of it, and the plaque measures 8"x10" overall. It is in good condition....any tears that have fallen on it have done no visible damage.
