hughes35 Store This 1968 Chevrolet Corvair was sold on 3-14-1968 by Washburn Chevrolet in Santa Barbara, Ca. It was Mr Washburn's personal demo and he sold it to his friend Mr Phinney giving him a discount of $339.21 off the sticker price of $3023.97. We have the original sales contract which makes great reading. The car was equipped as follows: 110 hp engine, 4 speed trans, radio, heater, wheel caps, power top and wood grain steering wheel, interestingly they added heavy duty suspension 6 days later at no cost.Mr Phinney kept the car till January 1984 when he sold it to Mrs Gionfriddo for the not inconsiderable sum of $3000. We aquired the car from the Gionfriddos after it had been sitting in the garage for 15 odd years. Before laying the car up we were told the engine was rebuilt by the local high school as were the brakes. The car now runs and drives very well and the engine seems very strong. The car is super straight with only very minor rust in the bottom of the front fenders the floors are beautiful and all the panels are original. We have fitted a new fuel pump, changed the oil and put on a set of new good quality radials. The car comes with some spare parts including a new top and all the air cleaner assembly is there. This is a real easy restoration or drive as is. we have lots of history and the handbook, the service book and the protectoplate overall a great classic car for a very realistic price ....
