1976 Mercedes 450SL. Red with Black Leather Interior. 112,000 Miles. Excellent Original Condition. Runs Drives Excellent. Recent Tune Up, Passes Smog, Clear Title. Interior: Has both Hard Top and Soft Top. Black Canvas Soft Top is in Perfect Condition, a bit of Haze in the Rear Window. Hard Top rear Glass has been repaired with Lexan Plexiglas. Rear Glass replacement with Defroster is easily available online. Interior is nearly perfect condition 8 of 10. Carpets are good condition. No cracks in dash. All lights work. Has rare option of rear seats. Has brand new Sony Xplod CD Player Tuner with Aux, USB and new 6 x 8 speakers. Power Antenna works. Dash Lights all work. Exterior: Has a respray Red Paint over original Red. Paint is shinny and is very nice condition, not perfect, I would say a 6 of 10 condition due to some of the small scratches that have been touched up. Body is in great condition, one small dent in hood hardly noticeable and could be easily fixed. Rear trunk near emblem has some 4 spots where appears some rust may be under the paint. This is the only visible rust on the car. This is a California Car and is nearly rust free. Engine: Engine starts right up and runs smooth. Transmission is smooth and typical of this era 1976 450SL, it shifts up and down perfectly. Engine is very clean and well maintained. recent service includes Oil and Filter Change 20 Miles ago, New Spark Plugs and Hydraulic Fluid and Coolant Checked and filled. There is a very small amount of oil and hydraulic fluid that drips nominal for age (about 1 or 2 drips per day) if sitting. Engine does not smoke or make any odd noises. Idles perfectly, has lots of power, I would say runs as good as new. Issues: Air Conditioning Components are all there however, AC does not work. I do not know the extent of the repair needed to correct. Appears the AC belt is missing and some of the solenoids behind the climate control panel are disconnected. Heater works, however there is a small leak in the heater core as such the heater core has been bypassed. The Blower for the AC and Heater works good. The Cold Start Injector works via a bypass of a Hot Wire switch to the center console, this is a common problem for 450SL's not starting Cold, as such to start car one simply needs to hold in a button for about 10 seconds till car warms up. This can be fixed possible with a replacement thermo time switch or the wire between the Time switch and the cold start injector or the warm up regulator. The Engine starts right up every time when warm with out need of a fuel boost from the Cold Injector. This is a very nice 450SL. This is a great investment !!
