Vehicle Detail

For your bidding consideration is my 1979 Mercedes Benz 300CD with 150,115 original documented miles.I have a clean, no-lien title in hand. The car is done in Mercedes 903-Blue with an older complete trim-off respray. The interior is MB-Tex navy blue The car has never been in an accident and passes the magnet test (no Bondo). It is powered by the venerable and long-lived MB 3 liter naturally aspirated diesel engine. It has an automatic transmission. The engine starts quickly, even in the cold weather. The glow plugs have been upgraded to the loop style found in the later models. The fuel injectors have been rebuilt and balanced using German made Monark injectors. The car averages 28 to 30 MPG and cruises nicely at highway speeds. The front end has many new parts and steers and tracks perfectly. The tires have 70% tread left and the brake pads are like new, front and rear. There are no leaks or problems with the master cylinder or the brake servo unit. The transmission has been serviced regularly and shifts as new. The car has a new top-of-the-line Interstate battery still under warranty. The differential has also been serviced regularly and has no leaks or noise. The drive shaft flex pads are in good condition as is the center drive shaft bearing. The heat and air conditioning work well and a new climate control servo was installed. The AC compressor is in good shape with a new clutch installed. The interior is in very good condition. The front seat had a small tear but was professionally repaired. The dash has only one tiny crack. The rear deck is in perfect condition with no dampness or discoloration. The original first aid kit is in tact. The carpeting is perfect and the car has cocoa mats. There is no rust in the floors at all. The engine bay is also rust free and the rear body panel behind the battery tray and the tray itself has been treated with Por-15 to prevent rust. There is no rust near the hood hinges (common rust area on these cars) and all drains work well and are clear. The wood interior trim is in very good condition. The original Becker Europa II radio plays well and the dial lights work. The power antenna also works perfectly. The sunroof works well and has been cleaned and lubricated with the special MB grease for sunroof tracks. All gauges (even the clock) work perfectly. The potentiometer (a known MB bug-a-boo) has been bypassed so the dash lights work perfectly. There is no rust on the underneath, the jack points are rust free and solid and the trunk is perfect. Floor pans are rust free and solid. Exhaust is solid, replaced at 134k miles. There is one very small paint bubble on the right rear fender lift, just surface, not rusted through, which would be an easy repair. The car has the original wheel covers that have some curb rash and also a spare set of wheel covers in perfect condition that can be painted blue or left white. There is an oil filter, fuel filters and touch-up paint included. The car has the original tool kit which includes the standard tools plus a wheel mounting stud, manual sunroof tool (just in case) and a set of red handled special valve adjustment wrenches. The vacuum system is in good condition and the door, trunk and fuel door locks work well. Wipers and washer work. Rubber axle boots solid with no rips or tears. No problems with bushings or motor mounts. Documentation: The car comes with service records of every oil change and service back to when new in 1979. It also has repair records and receipts back to 1998. This car has spent a short time in Columbus, Ohio and the rest of its life in no-road-salt Atlanta and South Carolina. I believe I am the third owner. The car is garage kept and has been driven only 27,000 miles in the last 23 years. Contact me to view these videos (I don't know how to post them here). I have posted a very reasonable reserve on this car. It is not a museum piece but rather a very well preserved serviceable automobile that gets comments everywhere I go. The badges on the rear of the car are not attached to the car but rather on a frame that is bolted to the license plate mount. They are German car rally badges and are included. I will assist in shipping, if necessary, or you can fly into Myrtle Beach, SC and drive it home. Unfortunately, Car Fax and vehicle history reports are not available for 980 and older vehicles but this car is well documented On Jan-26-12 at 12:09:39 PST, seller added the following information: I neglected to ad that the rear windows do not operate properly. The switches and motors are good but the regulator tacks need adjusting. Front windows work well. On Jan-28-12 at 11:14:10 PST, seller added the following information: Please e-mail me at daman858@gmail.com and I will send you the links to the videos of this car. You will not be disappointed!
