This car was originally for auction with a reserve. Now that I have tested the waters please bid with confidence. Check my Ebay rating. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.I want to make this sale as smooth and transparent as possible. I MUST SELL THIS CAR! NADA prices this car at $2,325.00NO RESERVE!!!1% from the sale of this auction will go to the American Red Cross A $250.00 deposit is required within 72 hours once the auction has endedFull payment within 14 days Up for Auction is 1991 Toyota MR2 2.2L 5-speed Red exterior, black interior, low miles, small coolant and oil leak near oil pump housing. I bought this car in December 2010. It had been sitting for 5 years! The engine was locked up and there was even a breathalyzer still hooked up to the ignition! It needed a lot of work and I've spent quite a bit of money on it. I have the paperwork for all the oil changes, battery, alternator, fuel pump, water pump, all four brakes and rotors, rear tires, spark plugs, timing belt, seals and gaskets. All replaced by a professional mechanic. Unfortunately I do not have the paperwork with other major maintenance done on this car. This includes replacement of the engine, new clutch kit, A/C compressor, as well as conversion from R-12 to R-134a refrigerant (air conditioner blows cold). The engine was out of a 1991 Toyota Celica and has 157,000 miles on it. I made sure to find an engine that closely matched the mileage on the car. All the work was done by the same mechanic; a lot of man hours was spent on getting this car back on the road. This car became my daily driver and was in optimal running condition. I have put roughly 12,000 miles on this car. Other minor maintenance done on the car (no receipts): new power antenna, headlights, windshield wipers, Pioneer CD player, Kenwood door speakers and rear-side speakers, stock 92' MR2 Turbo rims, full-size spare, Bosch ignitor leads, K&N air filter, driver's side T-top seal, as well as a new cigarette lighter. When I drove this car from Lynchburg, VA to Los Angeles, CA, cross-country in August, I had no problems. It ran great. I had a blast! Three days with the T-tops down! LOVED it! This is a great little car; quick, handles well, accelerates fast, but like any older car, it is hard to maintain. Two months after getting to California, I noticed oil dripping onto the exhaust manifold causing smoke. I took it to the mechanic. They said oil was coming from a seal near the oil pump. As well as, coolant leaking from a line near the water pump(life-time warranty through NAPA). The coolant seems to be a rather small leak, but the oil was leaking about 1 quart every other week. I haven't driven it much since, just to move it when the street-cleaners come through on Thursdays and Fridays. I would not recommend driving this car outside of LA county, until the oil leak is fixed. This is the reason I am selling the car. More details:The exterior paint is somewhat faded. The clearcoat is chipping in spots. There is a small dent in the passenger side, front quarter panel and a small indention on the passenger side rear bumper. There are spots of rust underneath the full-size spare and the under carriage of the car. The interior is in fair condition. The carpet behind the seats need to be replaced and there is a small tear in the drivers side seat. Pictures are included. Other than that the interior looks great, considering the age of the car. Also included are JDM MR2 floor mats. I had the windows tinted by a professional(35% on the sides and back, 20% on the T-tops). The T-tops do not leak when it rains. Leather T-top protective covers and a specially designed MR2 reflective sunshade is included The car sometimes idles high, but I just lightly touch the accelerator and it goes back down to 700 RPM. Cruise control does not work. Power antenna does not work, but can still get reception. The lamp light is intermittent. I'm sure I've touched on everything. Please bid with confidence! I am a huge fan of these little cars. I would hate to see this car go, but it was fun while it lasted! If there is anything else you would like to know, please don't hesitate to ask. Will sell to highest bidder. NO RESERVE!!!On Jan-20-12 at 11:29:16 PST, seller added the following information: I took the car in this morning for an oil change, ran just fine. Still a noticeable leak, though. Once the mechanic had the car in the air, I took pictures of the undercarriage and of any rust. If you are a serious bidder, please message me and I will send you the pictures. There are 8 in total. Ebay does not allow me to add more than 24 photos, so I can send them as attachments to your email. Thank you for your interest and have a wonderful day!On Jan-22-12 at 00:39:08 PST, seller added the following information: Hey folks!!! You're getting an awesome deal! This is a great car. Back and forth from work this car runs fine! I drove it again this morning. Man! I'm gonna miss this car. Auction ends tonight. Hit it up!!!
