1965 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX ALL ORIGINAL, 1 OWNER BEFORE ME AND NUMBERS MATCHING SURVIVOR FOR SALE IS MY 1965 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. SHE IS A VERY "SPECIAL" BARN FIND. BY "SPECIAL" I MEAN THAT SHE IS A RARE, RUNNING AND DRIVEABLE CAR THAT I RESCUED FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNERS GARAGE. LAST REGISTRATION INDICATES 1992. THE CAR WAS ORIGINALLY SOLD BY BILL BARRY CHEVROLET IN SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA IN JUNE 1965 AND HAS SPENT IT'S ENTIRE LIFE IN THAT STATE UNTIL I BOUGHT HER. AS YOU WILL SOON FIGURE OUT, I LOVE THIS CAR - FOR LOTS OF REASONS. NOT THE LEAST BEING HOW COMPLETE IT IS AND HOW WELL IT RUNS AND DRIVES. I TRAILERED THE VEHICLE BACK TO MY HOME IN LAS VEGAS AND PERFORMED SOME WORK ON IT TO DETERMINE THE MECHANICAL CONDITION. MOST CARS LIKE THIS WERE PARKED BECAUSE OF MECHANICAL DIFFICULTIES. NOT THIS ONE. IT HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT ALL ITS LIFE. HERE'S THE DESCRIPTION TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY. I REPLACED THE BATTERY, FLUSHED THE COOLING SYSTEM, CHANGED THE OIL AND FILTER, FLUSHED THE GAS TANK, CHANGED IGNITION WIRES, PLUGS AND POINTS AND BELTS. SHE CRANKED RIGHT UP! THE CAR DRIVES WELL AND THE TIRES ARE LIKE NEW. IT DRIVES STRAIGHT AND THE SUSPENSION IS TIGHT. AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTOS IT IS EQUIPPED WITH THE GREAT KELSEY-HAYES 8 LUG WHEELS. THESE ARE NOT ONLY A RARE AND VALUABLE OPTION ON THE CAR BUT THEY ALSO PROVIDE GREAT STOPPING POWER BECAUSE THEY INCORPORATE A LARGE FINNED ALLUMINUM BRAKE DRUM. THIS IS SIGNIFICANT BECAUSE MANY OLDER VEHICLES HAVE POOR ORDINARY DRUM BRAKES AND NEED TO HAVE THOSE REPLACED WITH DISCS IF YOU ARE GOING TO DRIVE THE CAR ALOT. THESE FINNED BRAKES PERFORM ALMOST AS WELL AS DISCS AND THE CAR STOPS STRAIGHT. THEY CAN BE REMOVED IF YOU WANT TO GO WITH MODERN CHROME WHEELS BUT THEY ARE VALUABLE AND RARE NONE THE LESS. ALL POWER WINDOWS WORK. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS PROPERLY. THE POWER STEERING WORKS FINE BUT HUMS A BIT WHEN YOU FIRST START THE CAR IN COLD WEATHER. THE SEATS ARE ORIGINAL AND A VERY NICE DARK BLUE. THE EXTERIOR IS FONTAINE BLUE. THE UPHOLSTERY DOES NOT NEED REPLACING. THE DRIVERS SEAT DOES HAVE A REPAIRABLE SPLIT SEAM. THE HEADLINER HAS 3 SMALL 1/2" TO 3/4" HOLES IN IT BUT IS OTHERWISE IN GOOD SHAPE AND NOT EMBARRASSING AS IS . THE TRUNK HAS THE ORIGINAL MAT AND CARDBOARD SIDE PIECES ON THE QUARTERS. THERE IS ALSO A BIAS PLY SPARE, ORIGINAL JACK AND THE ALL IMPORTANT TIRE MOUNTING/BALANCING TOOL (MOST OF THESE ARE MISSING AND YOU NEED IT TO BALANCE THE WHEELS). SOME OTHER FEATURES AND OPTIONS ARE: ALL ORIGINAL NUMBERS MATCHING CAR 389 C.I. - 333 H.P. WITH 4 BARREL ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL PROTECTO PLATE AND WARRANTY MANUAL CALIFORNIA REGISTRATIONS FROM 1980 - 1992 ORIGINAL GM KEYS NON - SMOKERS VEHICLE WITH PERFECT ASHTRAY GOOD REAL WOOD DASH FACTORY "AUTO TEMPERATURE CONTROL" AIR CONDITIONING AM/FM RADIO - PLAYS PERFECTLY AND SPEAKER IS NOT EVEN CRACKED POWER DRIVERS SEAT-WORKING POWER WINDOWS - WORKING REMOTE SIDE VIEW MIRROR POWER ANTENNA - NEEDS REPAIR CARPET ON REAR PARCEL SHELF IS PERFECT ALL INTERIOR CHROME IS VERY GOOD STEERING WHEEL IS VERY NICE THERE IS NO RUST ON THE VEHICLE ANYWHERE HAS HAD ONLY 1 REPAINT AND IS FADED I AM NOT REPRESENTING THIS CAR TO BE A LOW MILEAGE CAR - IT MAY HAVE FLIPPED OVER ONCE SOME WEAK POINTS ON THE CAR ARE:THE CLOCK IS NOT WORKING. I HAVE NOT TRIED TO CHARGE THE A/C. THE STAINLESS TRIM ON THE LOWER PASSENGER SIDE IS ALL THERE BUT WILL NEED STRAIGHTENING TO BRING IT TO CONCOURSE LEVEL (SEE PHOTO). THE FRONT BUMPER HAS A DENT ON THE LEFT SIDE IN FRONT OF THE DRIVERS WHEEL AND CAN BE FIXED(SEE PHOTO). THE REAR BUMPER IS DISCOLORED AROUND THE EXHAUST TIPS. THE DASH PAD IS CRACKED AND REPAIRABLE. I KNOW THIS IS A LONG DESCRIPTION. I TRY TO DO MY BEST TO DESCRIBE MY VEHCILES WHEN I SELL THEM BUT AS YOU KNOW THESE THINGS ARE SUBJECTIVE - THESE ARE SIMPLY MY OPINIONS. I HAVE SOLD MANY CARS ON EBAY AND HAVE PERFECT FEEDBACK. PLEASE TAKE A LOOK. I WOULD KEEP THIS CAR BUT I AM AFRAID THAT IT WILL HAVE TO SIT OUTSIDE THIS SUMMER IN 115 DEGREE HEAT. MY GARAGE IS FULL OF OTHER TOYS. THIS VEHICLES DESERVES TO GO TO A GOOD HOME AND BE KEPT OUT OF THE WEATHER. IT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE A ROTISSERIE RESTORATION IF YOU DESIRE WITHOUT THE HASSLE OF SEARCHING FOR HARD TO FIND PARTS. OR YOU CAN DRIVE IT AS IS AND RESTORE AS YOU GO.
