This is a nearly SHOWROOM NEW 1977 Mercury Cougar XR7 that has only 4,154 documented original miles on her. This is a 100% rust free car. She has been stored as a collectors car all of her life. She is currently stored in a humidity controlled museum setting. The temperature is at a constant 70 degrees. This vehicle is in exceptionally good condition for her age. This car drives and operates as new. I am selling this car for an older friend who has a collection of cars but knows nothing about computers. This car is located on the west side of Indianapolis, Indiana in an old new car dealer’s showroom turned museum. I am unaware of anything else that is wrong with the car. The paint shines and looks to be completely originalPanels have original VIN stickers on them and it does not appear that the car was ever in an accident. The weather strip and the exterior rubber is in good shape. The car drives with no shakes, rattles or unusual wind noise. All lights and wiring operate properly.There is a ding in one piece of wheel opening molding (picture) The tires are in good shape and have 70% life remaining. The windshield seems original and had no rock stars or cracks. The spare tire and jack are intact. The car is serviced and ready to go. Everything under hood looks correct. The belts, hoses, filters etc. look to be in good shape. The under carriage of the car is extremely clean. (pictures) Finally, this is a no reserve auction. The Hammer price was $13,000. Add 8% to that for the buyers sales fee and the price is $14,000. The owner of this car registered it and paid tax on it so add another $1000 to that. It has the rare option of a 351 engine. The standard engine was a 302. I also wanted to point out that I posted the Vin incorrected on this listing. The second digit is an A not an 8. The car is an XR7 so it has power steering, power brakes and a rear stabilizer bar. This car also has tilt wheel and cruise control. The "different dash" is because it has the ultra rare Rally Sport Tach and Guage package. The Base MSRP on a 77 Cougar was $5603. This car had a $7301 MSRP so it is a highly optioned car.
