Vehicle Detail

I have a 1981 HMV Freeway for sale. (High Mileage Vehicle) This is my second one, and have had this one for about 3-4 years. It’s a three wheel vehicle that is licensed as motorcycle by the DMV in most states so it is cheap to license and insure. It’s also a pretty simple technology so it’s cheap to keep on the road. It has 11,700 miles on it and has an automatic transmission. There were about 700 of these made in Minnesota. There is an active and very supportive group online and an every 5 year get together (Here is a video of the last one: http://youtu.be/HmVB7uBb6G8 ). There are currently a few of these cars for sale online, mostly they are for sale for $4500 to $5500. My auction has a reserve price of $2,995 with a buy now price of $4500. If you need me to store it for the winter or deliver it within 420 miles, contact me before the auction end for details. I drove it 16 miles round trip to work and back many times and am getting around 80mpg. Depending on your terrain and speed limits, you may be able to get better mileage than that? I’ve had it up to about 64 mph downhill with wind, but it cruises on flat stretches at about 50-55. Yes it is completely street legal with good tabs. This is the deluxe version with the larger 16hp Tecumseh engine, sun roof and a radio. Since I have owned it I replaced all the interior carpet with automotive grade black. Looks pretty nice. I’ve replaced the speakers, the brake solenoids, master cylinder, turned the front drums, new chain, gas tank gas lines and filler hose, tinted windows, etc. I have also added a gas assist steering stabilizer and an aftermarket stability kit so it handles a lot better than stock. I relocated the new battery to the front so the weight distribution is better. I also have the brakes, alignment, steering, etc. adjusted tip top right now. I also have a few parts and original paper work to include. A new driven clutch, fuel pump rebuild kit, ignition switch, original paper work, etc. I also started to investigate replacing the front drum brakes with disk brakes. If you want the calipers, bearings and disks I bought for this I can include that as well in case you want to make some brackets and make the switch. But to be clear, the original brakes that are on it work fine. The first 8 pictures are of two years ago, the rest are from this summer. Just this last week I took it around the block (Here is a video: http://youtu.be/Yqc5PJVHZJ4 ). So it is in good driving condition right now. But of course as with any micro or hobby car, there is always tinkering to do. But it does run, drive, ride, and handle as good now as it has since I’ve owned this one or my last one.
