The Bahama Mama is for sale! Merry Christmas to you! I am the second owner of this beautiful Westfalia. The original owner was a retired pilot from Camarillo ca. who owned it up until the the beginning of 2011 when I was able to purchase it from his estate sale. When I got the bus it was in it's original white paint and mustard seat upholstery. It has been resprayed in my favorite original vw color " mango green" and white. The body is very straight and the paint has been professional buffed for a nice smooth finish. The floors are solid with very little surface rust, All doors open and close properly and line up as they should.The windows, roof and all hardware were removed for paint and all new rubber seals installed on windows, doors, and pop top. The engine is a beautiful 1776 with plenty of pep to get this thing down the road at today's speeds. The engine was professionally machined and rebuilt, all original engine tin was then powder coated in a rich gloss black including the engine support bracket, also installed a brand new empi exhaust that sounds great, and I had the carburetor completely rebuilt and jetted out for optimum performance. This is a beautiful engine that runs even better than it looks! The shifter feels nice and tight and shifts smooth through all gears, the steering feels good and does not seem to have the common steering box issues that these old bus's tend to get at this age. The brakes stop well , the tires are brand new and the over all driving experience is great! you wont believe the reaction you get driving down the road with thumbs up, and "nice bus! " every where you go. There are a couple things that need fixing that I am aware of. I recently broke the arm off the turn signal switch getting in the driver seat, oops! I bought a good used original switch to replace it but haven't installed it, and I didn't get the rear cargo door seal with the rest of the rubber for some reason. So a couple minor things here and there left to do. The interior is amazing! the cabinets have been recovered in real bamboo woven matting and look way to cool. The upholstery and curtains were professionally made and installed by Quality auto upholstery in Ventura and the wood paneling was completely remade and stained a rich deep mahogany. The pop top canvas is also brand new and looks great. the upper cot canvas in perfect condition, all frame work is there in good working order. I also have the original front child's cot with polls in good condition and rear door mosquito net. The original sink and ice box can be included with sale if the buyer is interested in having it, I just prefer to have the room with out it so I did not to restore it. It has an electric fridge and the metal portion of sink is missing. This is a gorgeous old bus that I have put countless time and money into but it is time for me to sell her. Please understand that she is beautiful and has a great engine and is sure to bring years of enjoyment to the next owner, but it is still a 42 year old bus and not a new vehicle with 100,000 mile warranty. I just want to be clear that this is not a ground up every nut and bolt restoration and of course the price represents that.
