CANDY APPLE RED 1966 MUSTANG PS DB AC A CODE ***CANDY APPLE RED 1966 MUSTANG PS DB AC MANY OPTIONS*** ***289 V-8 AUTOMATIC --- ONE FAMILY OWNED SINCE 1975*** ***RALLY PAC --- FACTORY AC --- PONY INTERIOR*** This is a 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe that has a lot of options. The owner passed away a couple of years ago and was a member of the local Mustang Club. I'm a member and knew him. His son asked me to list the car for him. His father bought the Mustang in 1975. The car was repainted candy apple red and a new black pony interior with console was added along with an under the dash stereo, rally pac and faux wooden steering wheel. The car came with factory air, disc brakes and power steering with an A code 289 V-8 engine and automatic transmission. The engine was replaced at some time with another 289 with a two barrel carburetor. When the car was painted a rear valence with cut outs for the dual exhaust was added along with a pony grill with fog lights. It has GT emblems on the fenders and a white GT stripe along the bottom. The paint is bright and shiny but has some flaws from age. The chrome and trim have aged and appear to be originals. The car starts up and runs, drives and brakes well. The engine needs a tune-up. The air conditioning was working a couple of years ago but doesn't work now. Both the original AM radio and the under dash AM/FM/Cassette stereo play. The car recently passed Virginia State safety inspection so the front end, brakes, suspension should be in good working order. The inspection station replaced all shocks and put on four new tires. The car needs very little to be a daily driver. If you are interested in the Mustang my advice is to come and see it. Email me for the owner's number to make an appointment to see the car. The car was painted back in the early 80s or late 70s. It has some flaws from age but I didn't see any bubbles or signs of filler. It has styled steel wheels and dual exhaust exiting through the rear valence. Car has 289 flags, GT fender emblems and white stripe to accent the candy apple red paint. It's easy to drive with power steering, front disc brakes and automatic transmission. Pony grill with fog lights GT gas cap The interior is black with bucket seats, under dash AC and floor shifter in the console. Seats are in nice shape, carpet is faded in places The owner says his father changed the car over to the pony interior years ago. Pony interior and console Back seat - car has all the seat belts Note disc brake pedal, rally pac, under dash air conditioning and under dash stereo from the 70s. The rear view mirror is the original and it dims. Switch on the left works the fog lights. Steering wheel is plastic made to look like wood. Tachometer, speedometer and gauges work except for clock Original Ford air conditioner was working a couple of years ago. Everything is there for it. Old Pioneer stereo works as does the original AM radio. There are two Pioneer speakers in the rear package tray. Headliner has no damage or tears Driver side door panel - note remote mirror adjustment Passenger side door panel The original A code 289 was replaced with this two barrel 289. The tag on the intake says it is a 1966 engine. Engine has chrome air cleaner and Cobra valve covers. Note shroud for radiator. The engine starts right up but needs some carburetor work. I think it needs a tune up. After it warms up it runs well. It doesn't smoke and sounds good. It has the original Ford AC compressor with the Ford tag on it. Master cylinder - it has factory front disc brakes Power steering works fine We don't know why the car has two solenoids Underside of the hood Trunk opens and shuts properly Underside of the trunk lid Spare has a matching styled steel wheel Original trunk mat could use replacement Car is solid - I didn't see any rust or damage from rust No jack so I crawled under the car to try and get some underside photos - front has disc brakes Underside of car appears to have been given a heavy coat of undercoating in the past to preserve it Passenger floor pan You can see the heavy undercoating New shocks, dual exhaust is quiet stock type mufflers I didn't see any damage under the car Door data tag The car was repainted red years ago. VIN on fender Tag on fender The car comes with a lot of paperwork including inspection slips back to the 70s Grill with fog lights Hood opens and closes easily - you can see it sits flat Driver front fender with 289 flags and GT emblem All four tires are new P195X75X14 All glass is good - car has a State of Virginia inspection sticker that is valid until the end of October 2012 Trim has aged. Sticker is from the local Mustang club. The deceased owner had several Mustangs and was an active club member. Car has nice lines Driver side rear wheel area - no bubbles or signs of filler Driver quarter panel Dual exhaust Two Pioneer speakers in the package tray GT gas cap Trunk lid - you can see a little bow in the bumper Passenger side rear quarter area Car has 5 styled steel wheels Driver side door - car has dual rear mirrors Trim has aged Paint peel at the top of the passenger fender Passenger front fender There is rust on the top of the passenger side of the front bumper. If you are seriously interested in this car my advice is to come and see it. The car is near Mechanicsville, Virginia not far from I-295, I-95 and I-64.
