Vehicle Detail

1995 Ford F-250 XLT regular cab pickup. This truck was seldom disconnected from my horse trailer—it was a hauler, not a daily driver. It is in good/fair condition cosmetically. It looks fantastic from a distance but the paint has some dings, scrapes, scratches etc. It is a working rig and was used as such. The back bumper is on a little crooked but it’s not that noticeable. Truck has a few bells and whistles though. It’s dark silver, which is a pretty sweet color and also does a good job hiding dust. Truck has power steering, cruise control, power door locks and windows. Some sort of lumbar-support dealy in the seat. Cassette deck has a glitch—sometimes the eject button decides it doesn’t want to work. It will also randomly decide TO work. Depending on how the truck is feeling over the next week, whoever wins this auction may end up with my Roger Miller’s Greatest Hits tape. The passenger door speaker doesn’t work very well but all the other speakers are decent, for stock. I am including two 5x7s that I got at a garage sale and never had time to install. I would call the tires 85%. Full-size spare tire included. I maintain this truck religiously. I run synthetic oil in the brand-new 5.8 liter (351) and there are no leaks. 5-speed manual transmission and clutch are also brand-new. 4-wheel drive with manual hubs, works great. There is a drop-in bed liner in the 8-foot bed, dual gas tanks, and a 5,000 lb bumper hitch with a 7-round plug and a really nice Tekonsha brake controller. I had a welding shop reinforce the hitch so it can actually pull heavier loads. Like I said, it pulled my horses all over the place. J This auction does NOT include the stinger, even though it is pictured in the tailgate photo. This Ford was my dream rig. It was everything I ever wanted in a tow vehicle. I am selling this truck because it hates me and obviously wants a new home. I bought it because I really prefer hauling with a manual transmission—Idaho has a lot of big steep highway grades and mountain passes. I sold my Dodge dually (which was a wimpy 3-speed automatic) to buy this truck. In retrospect, this was a mistake. This Ford is well-maintained and SHOULD be in excellent condition mechanically but, as previously stated, it hates me. I purchased this truck on November 13th, 2010. It must have been Friday the 13th. The following is a list of major repairs I have made to it since the date of purchase: New transmission and clutch – December 1st, 2010 New engine (still under a 5 year/50,000 mile warranty) – April 20th, 2011 New radiator – December 16th, 2010 New battery – January 5, 2011 Total, I have dumped approximately $8,000 into this rig since I purchased it. Add that to the $4,000 I paid for the truck, and I have been royally hosed. I should have just taken that $12,000 and bought a Chevy. Here is the list of piddly things that have either broken since these repairs were made or have gone sporadically wrong at hugely inopportune times since then: Speedometer/odometer are busted. Apparently it’s just a sensor that went out. I have the part to repair it (included!), but I’m not a mechanic. Truck has approximately 170,000 or 171,000 miles on it. Not sure. Windshield water squirter motor is also out. Wipers work fine, water jets don’t jet. I have this part too. May need fuel pump or TFI module work. I was pulling an empty horse trailer this summer (on a 90 degree day) and the fuel system cut out. After it cooled off, it ran without a hiccup. I don’t know what the problem is—the fuel system pressure-tested fine, and the truck has never done it since. Definitely needs an air conditioning compressor. Current compressor is fried, and I have it unplugged. No one really “needs” air conditioning, but Ford in all their wisdom set up the defroster heater to run through the A/C unit as well. So the truck essentially doesn’t have defrost either. I was quoted over $1,000 for this repair and THIS was the straw that made me decide to cut my losses. I mean, think about it. I have put eight thousand buck into this Ford. It is STILL not be mechanically sound. I would be a colossal idiot to put NINE g’s into it. So I consider it a mechanic’s special. You can buy it and make all the minor repairs to it and have, essentially, a brand-new truck. Or, you can buy it from me and part it out and double or triple your money. Or you can push it off a cliff. I don’t care. Have you ever stayed in a relationship for too long, hoping against hope that things will get better? That is basically what’s going on here. I have tried my best to be perfectly honest about this vehicle. This will be the 4th car I have sold on eBay and I try my best to be comprehensive and completely truthful about what you are getting. I would strongly recommend that whoever purchases this truck consider a prayer session, cleansing ritual, blessing or exorcism over it. If you want to buy from a distance and fly in to Spokane (WA), I can meet you there with the truck. Best of luck to you getting it back to where you need it to go. If you have any questions, please e-mail me through eBay. I can send my phone number too if you want more details. Thanks a bunch!
