I am listing this 1978 Pontiac Trans Am for my son. It was originally a 400ci engine but was upgraded to an early 1970's 455ci engine with approximately 45k on it. Engine has approximately 365 hp. It has a T350 transmission with a shift kit and factory slap shift. It has the stock 10 bolt posi rear. My son purchased this car 10 years ago when he turned 16 and put over $7,000 into it. He had it repainted black, had all new brakes put in, and had the transmission rebuilt. He bought the car with around 62,500 miles on it and now it has around 68,000 miles. The motor is tight and it does haul a$$. Was only used as a weekend car to go to car shows and impress the ladies. Car was always garage kept and never abused. Him and I took good care of it the whole time we had it. He left for the Army in February 2006 and put the car in storage. I would start it a few times a month and tool around town with it for him. He came home from the Army in June 2010 and bought a house. He had plans to rebuild the motor and freshen it up a bit but was very busy working and paying his mortgage. He kept the car in his garage and took it out for rides once in a while. During hurricane Irene, the car was damaged by flood waters (as well as his 79 Harley, 65 Impala, Jetski and everything in his house). We towed the car to a reputable body shop and spent $1,800 on draining, cleaning and repairing the flood damage. Engine was not started until the work was done. The mechanic got it running good again but said it will need a brake line and a new carb. We have 2 more holley carb's that will come with the car. Both need rebuilds. One is a 650cfm Holley with vacuum secondaries and the other is an 850cfm Holley double pumper with mechanical secondaries. The carb on it now is a 750 Holley double pumper with mechanical secondaries. He cant afford to fix the car, he needs to focus on the house and everything else that was destroyed so this car is being sold as is with no reserve. Other than the carb, the motor is bone stock. The rest of the car is stock except for the Epilson wheels (deepdish rear). The Car also has true dual exhaust with Flowmaster 40 series mufflers on it and chrome 3 1/2 inch angle cut exhaust tips that come straight out of the back. I have never heard another 455 that sounded as wicked as this car. A week before he left for Afghanistan he was home on leave and he put a dent in the front fender and knocked the flare off.
