Porsche 1973 914 2.0 this is the one! GREAT restoration project When the 1973 model year opened for the 914, the news was all about the sensational new 914 2.0. Every journalist raved about the new generation of the 914 with its great new Porsche designed 2.0 engine and well balanced handling package. The car was so far superior to what had been that everyone who drove one thought it a completely different car. Standard on this car in addition to the 73 improvements of window mechanisms, crash protection, hub centric rotors with bigger calipers and brake pads, and vastly improved shifter, were the standard front and rear sway bars, chrome bumpers, new Fuchs light alloy wheels, beautiful vertical dimension center console with gauges and accompanying center storage box with map pocket, driving lights, leather wheel and dual horn. All of this plus the instantly responsive crisp 2.0 fuel injected engine made this car sell out immediately. Everyone wanted one! Yet by the time the 74 model year occurred the Mark had changed so radically against the Dollar, that the car became much too costly to compete with the other mid priced sports cars of the day forcing the factory to delete all of the equipment only to add each as an option. Hence the 1973 Porsche 914 all of these years later, is THE four cylinder car to own and restore. Here we have one. Although this car needs total restoration as it has rust issues, it is probably the most desirable paint color, marathon blue metallic, and runs and drives perfectly as it has been run through our award winning nationally known Porsche 914 service shop. Having been totally unmolested all of these years, it retains all of its original equipment along with the fabulous 2.0 fuel injected engine.
