The Firebird Coupe is an absolutely wonderful restoration of a very complete and original low mileage rust free Southern Colorado car. I would call this vehicle a #2 car only because it has been driven 23K miles since restoration. Adult built and owned by an avid Pontiac Collector. The restoration was very high quality including complete repaint, trim, molding, emblems and chrome re-plating in addition to a complete mechanical restoration by reputable Southern California shops. All receipts are available and come with the car. The car was purchased in 2006 from Colorado Springs, CO from the original owner and brought to Southern California where it was restored over a one-year period. The car had 105K miles on it at the time and now has 128499. The car was a very complete daily driver that was in excellent original unmolested condition. Having been a very nice driver with a 36 year old paint job and an engine and transmission that drove nicely; the decision was made to restore the car to its original glory. Mechanical Engine/Transmission were completely rebuilt on the original engine and transmission. At the time of build the owner replaced the original manifold and carburetor with Edelbrock replacements. During the restoration most of the original parts, such as power steering pump, alternator and complete AC system were all brought up to like new standards. As was the suspension components and front-end. Brakes were completely rebuilt including the addition of disc brakes to the front wheels. The car runs smooth and powerful with the addition of a wonderful tone eminating from the complete new exhaust system. Additionally the car drives straight down the road as the new front end and suspension components lend the car that new car ride and feel; this baby is tight. The AC blows cold and all the electrical components work just like they should. You will not find fault with this car mechanically in any way. My family bought a brand new Firebird in 1967 and I can remember the feel of the car from that time and this car feels identical in all manner of roadworthiness. Body & Paint My specialty over the last fifteen years has been restoring classic cars, mostly as a hobby and for my own collection. I consider myself an expert in the field of automotive “forensics” and am very interested in original or survivor type of cars. I have judged vehicles at various collector car events and am very familiar with all aspects of originality and restoration. The body is one of the main components for a survivor car, either to keep original or to restore. This Firebird has an extremely straight body that appears to have what I would call a virgin body; meaning I do not believe it has ever been structurally damaged in a significant way. It appears to have been void of even significant dents. As well it is not a “bondo” car or had any signs of rust in its life. This is a very straight body and unmolested body that will hold up to the most critical eye. The paint is very high quality PPG two-stage that shines well in any light. Chrome is high quality as well as is the trim and badging on the car. The Vinyl Top appears to be original and is in extremely nice condition. It quite simply looks brand new. To complete the classic 60’s Pontiac look a brand new set of Rally II Wheels was added to the restoration. A new set of BF GOODRICH T/A Radials was added for road stability. Interior The interior is completely redone with high-quality components. Over $6000 was spent and is in very good condition, showing minimal to no wear whatsoever. Undercarriage The undercarriage is tidy, clean and rust free. When the car was restored it was cleaned and some pieces were repainted. The car is driven so the underside is not show quality, but could easily come up to that standard. The floor pans and trunk area are all original and totally rust free. This is a very nice #2 Show/Driver type of car that anyone would be proud to own and drive. If you are in the Southern California area please feel free to arrange for a test drive before the auction ends. The reserve is set at a very reasonable number compared to the cost of restoration. If I can answer any other questions please feel free to call me at anytime.
