Vehicle Detail

The good: Great running 1941 Plymouth flathead 6. Rebuilt when car a was restored in 1988. Car was driven less than 5K miles after rebuild due to brake issues (which I have fixed). Carb rebuilt earlier this year. Radiator hot-tanked. New brake cylinders, shoes, drums, hoses, hard lines, and hardware all around earlier this year. Less than 700 miles since I got everything in the brakes worked out. Runs smooth, shifts effortlessly (no double clutching needed), runs on modern unleaded with no additives, gets about 18mpg in town. Have driven at 75 mph. Still original gear ratio, so that's about it for top end. Recent trip of more than 100 miles with no issues. Tires excellent with lots of tread. Steering is tight and smooth. Does not wander. Car rides excellent. Excellent handling. Clutch tight and strong. Good parking brake. New poly gas tank and new fuel lines this year. All factory gauges except temp work (temp is on aftermarket gauge for now). All lights work. Turn signals work. Heater works great. Updated to 12 volt, but still positive ground. No key, starts on toggle switch with foot starter button. Car will come with several boxes of extra parts, a set of used SW gauges, a new master cylinder (got with new brake components but did not need to replace older unit), some old school headlight lenses (running modern type lense with halogen bulbs behind them). Body is in extremely good condition. Paint is good. Car was painted with metal-flake paint in 88. Garaged since. I cleaned the paint up. No real rust that I have found. Two of the older patch panels show slightly beneath the paint, but are not buckling or exposed. Doors line up great. Open and close flawlessly. Hinges in great shape. All glass is excellent. All windows roll up and down smoothly with no binding or grinding. The bad: Someone tried to force the trunk lid closed with the support locked. It slightly buckled the trunk lid (see picture), but it still lines up great and did not break the paint. Windshield wipers still on vacuum. Work, but lines were leaking. I just disconnected them and have not re-worked them. Slight vacuum leak around carb base that just started when the weather turned cool. Have not taken time to investigate. Does not really affect acceleration to any noticeable degree. Hood is misaligned on worn center hinge supports. Fits and locks, but is a pain when opening from the drivers side. Front windshield will need work for crank-out to work properly. Part behind the dash is broken. I have a new guide, but you'll need the crank bracket for behind the dash. Car is not perfect but is a very reliable and comfortable driver. I will work with you to find someone to ship the car. Despite my belief that it is a great driver, I would not want to tell you that you could "drive this thing anywhere". I just haven't put enough miles on it since I got it up and going to know for sure. I do know that it starts easier than my 95 Ford truck (which I love at over 200K miles) and gets better fuel mileage than it, too! Have clear title in my name. Also have the title from Indiane when the car was purchased by the second owner in 1970.
