Vehicle Detail
i am have decided to sell my 1960 impala to pay down on some of my other things, and finish my daughters car. we drove this through the summer to about 8 car shows, and had a nice time. this has been one of the only cars i have had that you could just get in it and drive it. it gets lots of compliments, and a great conversation topic at all the shows. the car is licensed and insured in my name. the car has been a california car since new, until i bought it. still had the black plates on the car. was restored some time ago, and stored. i was looking at project 60's, but they wanted way to much for one to replace the floors, put a drivetrain in, and interior--then paint and bodywork. even the belair's and biscayn's. i really liked the impala with all the chrome, the trim, the space race style of the 59-61 cars. this 60 had to be the most stylish maybe next to the 59 caddy. i will go through the car in stages: BODY: the body on this car is very clean and straight. i took pictures down the sides. i dont think i have ever had one this nice. the drivers front fender has a small crack in it, kind of hard to see, and some small cracks in the paint under the body line. the previous owner said after the car had been restored, someone lightly backed into the fender. he had it repaired years ago. at the shows, its not really visable unless you look close--but wanted to be honest, and not a surprise like most cars on e-bay. the trim is very nice and clean. 1 front bumper pieces had some chrome chipping off, so i replaced it with another. i have the other part if some one wants to re-chrome it. doors shut very nice and tight, with no gaps, as does tunk and hood. trunk shuts with the old woosh sound as it fits nice! the rear trim panel is very clean, as is the grill. all the lights work, with turn signals and brake lights. glass is all super clean. this car had alot of time and money put in to it. the rear antenna hole was filled for the clean look. the color is ermine white.the trunk is super clean, with factory style mat. the floors are super nice and solid!!! INTERIOR: the inside looks all original as it would have in 1960. the dash is really nice, with all working gauges--except clock. horn and signals work. heater is a blaster--real hot. the only thing i noticed to not work all the time, is the wipers. they work for a bit--then shut off. the previous owner said it was the contacts? just have not messed with them, and was going to look more into it this winter. it is a simple single speed wiper motor. headliner in super nice, with working interior lights. the dash stainless is super clean, and still has factory radio. turns on and lights up, but i dont think its hooked up. has original style floor mats, and working seat belts. vents work great also. DRIVETRAIN: the engine has been rebuilt, and is a 283, with upgraded turbo 350 3 speed automatic transmission with a mild shift kit. the car runs great, and smooth. it has dual glass pack mufflers all the way out the back. visually--the generator has been switched to a more reliable alternator. engine compartment is very very clean. has power steering. factory wheels with correct hubcaps and spinners, on wide white tires. the coild have been cut about 1" for that popular early 60's look. my dad did the same thing on his 58 impala! car starts right up, and idles great with no issues. i would drive it anywhere. the bias ply tires are not as bad as i thought they would be, but sure give it the period look. ENDING: all in all---a great car, with the right colors, and minor mods. i think the nicest year of all the impala's. 59 was close, but i like the 60's side trim. this is a car going up in value, and not many around, or big rusty projects, or very very customized cars. the wings are what made these cars, and at the time of the space race, it was all the rage at the time, and now really making a comeback. THE RESERVE ON THIS CAR IS UNDER $20,000.00. LOOK AROUND. THIS WILL BE A GREAT DEAL. I WILL INCLUDE A BUY IT NOW, BUT IF RESERVE HAS BEEN MET--IT WILL GO AWAY. PLEASE ASK ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS. CHECK OUT MY FEEDBACK. I TEND TO LIST MORE THINGS ABOUT THE CAR THAT I HAVE NOTICED, BUT HAVE NEVER HAD ANYONE UPSET ABOUT THAT. IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN 10+ FEEDBACKS--PLEASE E-MAIL BEFORE BIDDING, OR I MAY CANCEL YOU OUT!!! I CAN STORE THE CAR FOR 1 MONTH FREE, THEN $75.00 PER MONTH AFTER. CAR WILL 100% NOT LEAVE UNTIL FUNDS CLEAR MY BANK( PERSONAL CHECK, CASHIERS CHECK, MONEY WIRE) CAR IS ALSO FOR SALE LOCALLY.
