It didn't take long for me to narrow down my top choice to one of the nicest-looking cars on the road. To this day I think the Pathfinder still looks current and is known to have one of the best combinations of style, sport, quality, and utility. I have been a proud owner of this Pathfinder from day one with 0 miles. The car has been fun to drive and exceeded my expectations in reliability by having few repairs to date. It has been parked either under covered parking at work or my carport since the day it was purchased. The pearly white metallic finish still retains its deep shine due to plenty of protective wax and covered parking. In my estimation, 75% of the miles on this vehicle are highway miles that don't stress an engine. I commute from north Boca Raton to downtown Ft. Lauderdale, a 50 mile round trip each day. My deliveries take me back and forth across Alligator Alley to Naples and up I-95 to Orlando. I have driven the car with ease, rarely going over 2500 rpm's off the starting line to maximize fuel efficiency and increase the longevity of the car. To prove it, this vehicle still has the original transmission and not an ounce of repair work has been needed on it. The car was often driven with the windows down and the A/C was used only in extreme summer heat or rainstorms. To prove it, the car is running with the original A/C compressor and has never required any maintenance. The air blows super COLD. The tires are relatively new and have almost a new tread (see attached photos). The aluminum alloy wheels were pressure cleaned periodically and show little sign of brake dust build up. All the electronics and Bose sound system and 6-disc CD changer are in good working order. This car has been taken care of over the years and will provide years of enjoyment to the next owner. Service Background of Vehicle: A complete file of service records have been kept by our company and available at request for this vehicle. Our company has always addressed any reason for servicing and the vehicle has been properly maintained over the years by a local repair shop or the dealer. The only repairs worth noting are: replacement of engine oil cooler, replace ignition coil, replace gaskets, replace starter assembly, new shocks and brakes. Besides that, this car has had nothing more than repeated synthetic oil changes every 5000 miles and transmission fluid changes and replacement of car batteries. As mentioned before, the tires were recently replaced and have a years of life left as seen in the photos. Items Worth Mentioning: Although this vehicle has been properly maintained and well taken care of over the years, there are a few items that need to be addressed in more detail. First, the car has developed what my mechanic describes as a noisy valve lifter on one or a few valves. The mechanic says this does not hurt the engine, it is more of an annoyance as you can hear it with the windows down. The engine does have 263,000 miles and will require at some point the top manifold to be removed to replace some of these valve lifters. Our company has chosen not to perform this repair as a typical life span of a our company fleet vehicles is 10 years. Again, the car runs just fine with this "ticking" sound in the engine and doesn't seem to affect the performance one bit. Second, the most noticeable cosmetic flaws on the entire car is mostly seen on the front bumper. A piece of rubber that was kicked up on the highway knocked out the lower right fog light. It also put a crack and dent in part of the front fender. I have chosen not to replace it. The only other cosmetic flaw is found on the right side of the vehicle with a few scratches in the paint. They are very small and I have tried to photograph them. I am glad to include any additional close-up pictures. Third, the car leaks oil. I am told that an engine with high highway mileage will leak oil. I usually add about a quart a month with the driving that i do. It is not a serious problem, but something that needs to be noted. The only interior cosmetic flaw worth noting is the vinyl is beginning to rip on the center console. Our company is completely fine with having independent inspectors or the car driven to the mechanic for an inspection.
