Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 1960 Chevy Apache long bed stepside pickup truck. This is a project of mine that I will be unable to finish because I am moving and have no place to store it. It was almost done - I wasn't going for a showroom style truck, just a good, solid runner. It just needs a new transmission and the drive shaft is wrong for this truck, I believe. Someone before me put in this small block Chevy V8 with a TH 400 transmission, but didn't put in a drive shaft with a slip joint. This may have messed up the transmission. I can still drive it around in first gear and reverse, it just won't shift on its own. What i was going for with this project was a nice looking, but not showroom truck, for practical use. Someone cut a hole for a floor shifter and disconnected and removed the column shifter, so I installed a tall Lokar shifter. The radio was removed and someone cut the hole larger for a CD player before I owned it, so I installed 3 small gauges in that spot. The steering wheel is in incredibly nice shape - no cracks and is still glossy. The horn needs wired up. New wires were added, but still needs a small part to finish. A new rear bumber with lighted license plate holder is included. Also, a set of 4 repainted, 6-lug black wheels are included that are the correct heighth and width. A brand new molded carpet is also included! The body of the truck is solid. The only body work I've noticed seems to be on the rocker panels. The wheel wells and frame, etc., seem solid - great shape! The truck has vintage cast aluminum Edelbrock valve covers, a 4-barrell Carter pro carburetor with velocity stack air cleaner, and a powerful electric fan for the radiator. When I got this truck a few years ago, it was in primer and so I painted it black/white with a brush. It has a swirl texture pattern that almost looks like distressed patent leather. It was a practical decision for me...I hate worrying about paint jobs so it was a quick solution. If something happened to the paint I'd just get the brush out and easily retouch it up perfectly. Besides, the texture does look unique. The truck has temporary duel exhaust with Cherry bomb mufflers. I was told the engine was a 283 but I have not found out for sure. It may be a 350. The truck has a new heater core that works great. The bench seat is red and has some wear in the usual places, but is still in good shape. The seat is not connected to the floor as of right now - just sitting in the cab. I really was not intending to get rid of this truck, but I have to move suddenly and other unexpected things have come up. Thanks for looking! Keep in mind that I'm not a mechanic or expert. I am just giving my best description and opinion. It will be up to the buyer to ask questions needed and check the car out for themselves, if possible. A deposit of $500 is due within 48 hours of purchase. The remaining balance will be due within 7 days. We are in the process of moving so we cannot hold onto the car for longer than that. All arrangements for pickup of the vehicle is left to the buyer and at the buyer's expense if shipping is required. Please email us with any questions and look at the photos.
