Vehicle Detail

This listing is for a low mileage NUMBERS MATCHING 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 with factory equipped Ram Air Induction. Please see the included “Marti Report” for this special Classic Muscle Car, which details the features of this California raised Ford Mustang Mach 1. As you can see from the amount of detail provided, I am sharing as much information as I have on 1F05M192012, so that this can be passed on with the vehicle. Please ask any questions you may have after reading this description. Clean Title, in my name, with no liens. Vehicle is insured and up to date with all registrations and required ownership paperwork. Ready for transfer. The vehicle runs and drives great, transmission shifts smoothly and has been perfectly dependable for me since I purchased it in 2002. Please see videos included. All gauges work properly except for the clock, All are beautiful and just the way you want to buy them. You will be proud of the instrument panel. I have included pics of most every nook and cranny. They show great detail as to how clean the interior, under hood, underneath, trunk, under dash, wheel wells...everywhere. Most other cars on ebay do not show you these. This is a very clean car as you can see. To view over 230 photos taken from inside and out of this mustang mach 1 for sale, please click on the link: The exterior paint looks beautiful in the pics and video, but there is many nicks, scratches and a few dings from the past 40 years. A nice new paint job will take care of this, and afterwards you will have a real show winner. I am selling the car only because I will be retiring from the military in the next two years, and need to purchase a home. I purchased this car in 2002 after a very long and patient search, with the intention of never selling. MORE PICTURES HERE:https://picasaweb.google.com/108933221173798697986 So you can see what you are getting, I included pics of the condition of the front and rear wheel wells before i painted them in 2005 for cosmetics. The rest of the underside of the car has never been painted by me or anyone. The Mag Wheel advertisement is circa 1972. These are the rims on the car. There are three albums. 1. THE MAIN ALBUM, 2. FLAWS IN PAINT and since I painted the wheel wells in 2005, i included the 3. "before paint" photos of the wheel wells that i thought you would want to see. The FLAWS IN PAINT album shows most items that will disappear when the car is sanded for re-paint and a few minor dings. These flaws would not show up in typical 10 to 20 ft away photos of the car, and most people do not notice them while they are so caught up in how cool the car is. When driving down the road, the car looks "restored" or like new. VIDEOS: http://youtu.be/J7-2Ts0C128 here is a you tube video of the car running down the road and a walk around. sorry about the quality, it is a new SLR Digital camera and i still need to learn how to use the video feature! http://youtu.be/PL8zPBJpgpg another video, a brief one of start up and moving out... The original owner had this Mach1 until 1997, when the second owner purchased it. I purchased it in 2002 in Petaluma, CA All owners have been responsible and mature adults. I purchased it from the second owner, who is a US Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officer. My rank is E7. This car has always been garaged. When I purchased it, a factory paper tag was still attached to the rear axle. I have removed it and placed it in the paperwork. Mileage is 130, 276 as of November 2nd, 2011... original and documented. The car has never been completely re-painted, but the exterior blackout treatment has been refreshed due to fading, as well as a few dent repairs over the years. No rust repairs have ever been made, or need to be made to this very clean California car. I am in the military, which is why the out of state plates. I purchased the car from Petaluma, CA and drove it to AK, where it was used only on dry weather days. I now live in Petaluma, CA. Engine Bay detailed began in 2003 and finished in 2005, which included detailing the engine and transmission, which were completely removed in order to do it properly. Changed gaskets and filters in both which are numbers matching to the car. Original Power train. I did not paint cowl or wiper motor to show some original patina. Original Radiator (cleaned/flushed/painted and looked new after engine bay detail) and starter (cleaned) are still working properly. The current Mag Wheels replaced the original Magnum 500's circa 1972, and are in exceptional condition, a real testament to the way the car has been cherished and preserved. I have done the following to the car: Replaced the original exhaust system immediately after purchasing car in 2002!!! Trunk was detailed in 2004. I did not freshen up areas not easily seen, and provided pics of inside trunk where I chose to not paint, but just “green pad” any surface rust away. Tail light panel was amazing, especially considering the factory gaskets are foam! Replaced tail light gaskets with new. Original trunk floors were remarkable prior to paint. I only cleaned the space saver spare, and sanded and repainted bottle with new label. Replaced rear bumper, installed OEM front spoiler. I simply wiped cleaned under carriage with simple green in 2003 Replaced front sway bar bushings. Replaced Engine Mounts during engine bay detail. New Tires in 2005 or 2006 and are in like new condition and wear. Replaced Carpet, sound insulation, Dash Pad and placed nicely done matching red vinyl over faded rear package tray. Pulled out the entire interior and cleaned all parts, and swept and wiped clean all body metal including floors. No holes in the floor. The driver side rear window must have had a leak as a trail of surface rust traveled down to the back seat floor board. POR 15 was used on any sanded down surface rust in this location. Under the car looking up show that these original floors are amazing. When inspecting a car for purchase, I have no problem with lifting the carpet even if seats need unbolting. I am proud of areas like this on this Mach 1. Door panels need replacing due to cracked arm rests. All door panel parts other than the door handles knobs should be re-used as they are beautiful. Door handle knobs just need replacing for perfection, as well as new stereo covers. Both are available and inexpensive at all the Mustang vendors.. Headliner is needing to be replaced due to threading giving out. New replacement headliner comes with purchase, as well as the roof insulation and an install tool. I had an estimate of around $400 labor to have a shop do it. The rear window glass needs removing in order to do it properly, and I was going to wait until I painted the car to do that. I have all the needed headliner parts. I suppose a new looking interior light lamp would be in order for the perfect appearance Second owner rebuilt the 4Vcarb, then installed an Edelbrock 1406 600 CFM instead, which is on the car. (the rebuilt carb and receipt comes with). The second owner has receipts saved showing items such as brakes, rear axle fluid change, drive shaft balancing, shocks, tune-ups, oil changes and maintenance and drivability issues and the like. I have needed to do none of that, except for oil changes, radiator fluid, engine and transmission fluid and filter changes and plugs. I installed a Petronix electronic ignition/Coil and MSD Spark Plug Wires during engine bay detail. Engine work done during cosmetic detailing: Replaced all gaskets and installed brass freeze plugs during engine bay detail. Main bearings and connecting rod bearings were replaced during engine detail along with other things done listed above. I have a friend who is a Master Mechanic, who happens to be a "Ford Guy", that performed the bearing work for me. Valve Stem Seals, Rear Main Seal, Oil Pump, Water Pump and Timing Chain were replaced during engine bay detail. Only valve stem seals and Rear Main Seal were done due to needing replacement, others were changed for longevity insurance. I initially intended to only replace the rear main seal and valve stem seals, but I did my best to keep the main emphasis “cosmetic”. Engine and Transmission, as well as rest of car is grease and dirt/grime FREE. All engine gaskets and hoses were replaced, except the original heads (stamped with VIN) were not pulled off. Original, VIN stamped C6 Automatic transmission was cleaned and painted as well as filter/fluid changed, some sort of modulator replaced because it was an inexpensive part. Transmission shifts beautifully and works properly. All engine bay components, front grill components, radiator, cleaned, sanded, repainted with correct paint. Mustang Monthly Magazine restored a 1972 Mach1 in the late 90’s and early 2000's, and was a big help in getting the correct coatings. Under carriage has not been covered with paint or undercoating like other cars which are hiding rust and repairs. None of that baloney with this car. I did detail the wheel wells and, did paint them, but have included "before" pics in this listing to show their previously dusty but remarkable rust free condition. The body has never showed any sign of deteriorating since i have owned it. The mostly original paint has plenty of dings and scratches, even though the pictures look extremely nice. The paint is shiny mostly and shows very well. From 20 feet looks almost perfect. Driving down the road it looks perfect and as if it is a restored car, which it is not. There is NO and there have NEVER been any bubbles in 1F05M192012’s paint. (Bubbles are “tips of the iceberg” of rust, and are unacceptable when you are looking for a classic car to purchase. I would rather buy a car like mine, rather than buying a freshly painted car that I do not know the history of. You and I can feel good about applying new paint to this car one day. The painter who gets to paint this car some day should feel an extra sense of caution and pride seeing this car’s original condition. Included with the car is a new, un-installed receiver/dryer and condenser for the AC system, (AC does not work, but may or may not need charging only). The AC system is complete except for a new belt, however. Also included is the following, but not installed: Nice Rear Window Louvers, not shown, are included in this listing. Needs installation kit (not included), but looks sharp installed on these 71-73 fastbacks. NOS OEM Radio Antenna to replace the original on the car (was planning to install this after painting exterior someday). Headliner and insulation kit with install tool. New OEM Ford Door weather-strip. (trunk and hood weather-strip is replaced) Rebuilt Original Autolite 4V Carburetor w/ receipt. On the base of the carb (just under the fast idle solenoid) is a stamping "1OF - AAA" indicating this is the correct carburetor for this Mach1. The second owner says this is the carburetor that was on the car when he had it rebuilt to improve drivability. Unfortunately, the rebuild shop did not re-install the date coded metal tag from the factory, as it was probably assumed to be useless! In November of 2011, I spoke once again with the original owner, who verified he never removed the original carburetor from the engine during his entire ownership. New OEM Ford Ram Air Hose Kit Original Complete Shop Manual Set in superb condition. Marti Report Service Receipts, Registrations and mileage documentations from over the years dating to 1971. An appraisal from 2006 for $24,000 required for insurance. A local reputable Muscle Car restoration shop said I should ask for $20K a couple years ago, stating that , “although it needs a paint job, it's lack of rust and cleanliness makes it an easy and inexpensive restoration to finish.” He also said that “Most cars have expensive rust repairs, sometimes exceeding $10K for rust repairs only, and this car has none needed” Original Owner explained the car was stolen from his work parking lot within a couple years of being new. The next day, the police had the Mach 1, which was used in a bank robbery as a getaway car! The front hood and driver front fender needed to be replaced with Ford replacements. The insurance work was done properly at the Ford Dealership. This piece of history is passed down “verbally“, and should go with the car I felt. The car sits, drives, tracks, brakes with no indication of this event ever happening. I believe an inspector/body shop would consider what they see in this car as “no issue“. I am torn between even mentioning this as some might find it a negative, but most cars have some sort of accident over 4 decades. However, I dare to say that not too many have taken part in a bank robbery!Needs paint job, door panels, headliner installed and driver door window scratches removed, A/C system fixed, Ram Air actuators replaced or rebuilt. A new set of Magnum 500's and 15" Tires would be nice also. The current 14" tires are like new. Thanks for looking. Feel free to contact me via ebay messaging or at 707-695-3177 for more information.
