Vehicle Detail

Up for bid is a 1972 3/4 Longhorn truck. Longhorn was a model Chevrolet ran from 1968-1972 that has a 133" wheelbase and 8.5' bed. They are pretty rare with only a few thousand built each year. This was an Atlanta built truck that was sold new in Chattanooga, TN. and been in TN. until July of this year. This is a 2-owner truck with 109,000 miles. It is a pretty unique truck in that it is a base model with an impressive list of options : 350 V8, automatic, power steering, power brakes, A/C, tilt wheel, front stabilizer, rear sliding window, auxiliary fuel tank and cargo lamp. It includes owner's manual and Protect-O-Plate. This is a good running and driving truck that could be driven anywhere. Original 350 went out earlier and a Targetmaster 350 was installed as a warranty replacement. The motor has a slight miss in it, but still runs good, even with a little loss in power (I pulled a loaded 20' trailer 70 miles with no problems). Carburetor has just been rebuilt, new radiator, valve job, new brakes. Transmission shifts nice and smooth; brakes are great; big 4.10 Eaton rear end is good. Air conditioner blows cold. AM/FM cassette works - original radio hole was NOT cut. Body : As usual, rust in the rockers and a little under the sill plates; corners of doors have a little rust, but bottoms are good; all 4 supports are great; visor/roof area is perfect; pass. front fender has NO rust, good radiator support; one small spot on firewall was patched, but the rest looks good. Bed still has 90% of original wood. One corner lip on the bed has some rust, but is an easy repair (see pic). Tailgate is no good. Has most of its original med. bronze metallic paint. The p.o. sprayed some primer over some areas where the paint was getting thin. Perfect workhorse to drive as is or maybe restore. It has some small dents and scratches, but the body is in better than average condition for a Longhorn. I would not hesitate to take a long trip in this truck. Older tires still have lots of tread, new windshield. Clear TN. title. Truck is located in NW AL. and can be held here as long as needed after payment is received. Truck will not leave until paper payment has cleared. Please feel free to call for more details. Joshua (256) 246-1848.
