this auction is for a VERY nice 1964 galaxie 500 XL, two door fastback. this car was bought new in florida. the second owner bought it in 1989 and took it to maine. the car was up graded to it's present condition between 1989 and 1996. it was than put in dry heated storage and not returned to the road until 2011. this car is, and always was, a rust free car, showing no sign of any accidents or other damage. the car appears to have all the original body panels that it left the factory with. i can find no signs of repairs on any of the body panels. body mounts and frame are in fine condition, showing no rust, damage or repairs. now for the work that has been done to the car. body stripped and repainted the original vintage burgandy metalic motor has been rebuilt to original spects 4-speed trans and shifter rebuilt rear end rebuilt. correct 3:50 open gears (by the door tag) drive shaft rebuilt new rear springs new front spindle and alignmemt distributor rebuilt original carb replaced with new edlebrock. (original carb is included in auction) recored radiator new correct style exhaust (not loud and rapping) mufflers in the rear as factory installed new fuel tank , sending unit and stainless steel straps new headliner, front seat covers, and carpet original steel wheels, tires and spinner hubcaps (plus magnum 500 type on the car.) brakes were serviced complete tuneup, points plugs, cap wires, ect. i am sure that i have missed several items that were replaced or renued. MOST of the items that were done, i have reciets for. i have a lot of them. i also have the ORIGINAL owners manual and build sheet that was found in one of the bucket seats when it was recovered. all of the stainless trim and interior stainless and alum trim was polished when the car was apart. factory options include: power steering (works like a dream with one finger) factory AM-FM radio (plays fine) drivers side remote outside mirror (works fine) clock (not working) this car was built as a GREAT driver and cruiser. it would not take much to turn it into a show car. it is very original, not hopped up, hot rodded or altered. it is hard to find them in this good condition and this original. feel free to come and see it , have your agent see it or call me with any questions you may have. this car drives like a new one. no shakes, shimmies, or stranges noises. no tail pipe smoke. it will cruise at highway speeds all day long. you can fly in and drive this one home with confidence. i have a clear NC title , in my name. in hand. i am NOT interested in any trades for boats, motorcycles or other vehicals that you can not get rid of. my reserve is less than the resto cost and much less than you could build a quality vehical such as this for. i can deliver with an open car trailer, time and distance perminting, for $1.75 a mile.
