1954 FORD CRESTLINE SKYLINER FACTORY CONTINENTAL KIT! VERY RARE! ALL ORIGINAL! BUILT IN CALIFORNIA! ALWAYS IN CALIFORNIA! TWO-OWNER! 99% RUST FREE! SUPER SOLID STRAIGHT! FACTORY GLASS ROOF! NO RESERVE!!! Up for auction with NO RESERVE!!! is a VERY RARE TWO OWNER 1954 FORD CRESTLINE SKYLINER WITH THE FACTORY GLASS ROOF! This car was built right here in Richmond, CA in the san francisco Bay Area and has ALWAYS been in Northern California's dry climate for it's ENTIRE LIFE! According to the second owner this car was in the hands of a local Ford dealer in Northern California and was told that this car was 1 of 200 that was built with the NIGHT AND DAY DEMONSTRATOR HOOD that was replaced with the steel hood for drive-ability purposes after being sold. There is no way to confirm or deny this. The body on this car is SUPER SOLID AND STRAIGHT with only 1 REPAINT in all of its life including the roof being painted at one point. The factory color is SUNBURST YELLOW and it still remains the same color. The current paint job on the vehicle was done sometime in the late 1970's and still shines but does have some touch-up areas. The only rust that I can find is leading edge of the trunk with only some minor bubbling as seen in the picture. There is NO RUST THROUGH AT ALL ANYWHERE! The floors trunk and rockers are all SUPER SOLID; as you would expect from a car that has NEVER LEFT CALIFORNIA! All the chrome is in decent shape for it's age and shines well. The only missing pieces are: two end-caps on the plexiglass roof surround, one crestline rear quarter panel emblem and the ford crest for the center of the hood. Other than that EVERYTHING is there and STRAIGHT. The headlight rings are chrome. The driver side headlight ring came off and was damaged and replaced with another nice ring. This ring is not chrome but painted chrome to match. All the glass is ORIGINAL and in GREAT SHAPE with NO CRACKS OR PITTING. The PLEXIGLASS ROOF is ORIGINAL therefore it has the normal spider cracking like they all do. The car could use new door window rubber as it does have a gap when the windows are rolled up. All windows roll up and down smoothly. The passenger rear quarter window is a little fussy sometimes but does go up and down. The drivers side inside door handle is off but included with the car. The interior is ALL ORIGINAL and in good shape for it age with no holes or splitting except for the lower driver side bottom seat near the floorboard. NOT WHERE YOU SIT and as seen in the picture. The carpets, door panels and headliner are all in decent shape. The windshield wipers are not functioning and never have. It could be as simple as a fuse but since I NEVER DRIVE THIS IN THE RAIN I never looked into it. If you plan on driving this car I will rain-x the windshield before pickup. The heater control is out of the car and not hooked up but it is included with the car and can be installed VERY EASILY. The ORIGINAL AM RADIO does not work since it has not been converted to 12-volt. I do have the FACTORY VINYL PLEXIGLASS ROOF COVER that buttons in. The passenger rear dome light cover is missing. I may or may not have it but if it is found it will be included in the sale. ALL THE GAGES WORK. The speedometer registers but the needle is bouncy. An aftermarket voltmeter and oil pressure gage was added and are mounted under the dash and WORK GREAT! The door strikers could use an adjustment. This car has the ORIGINAL 239 CUBIC INCH Y-CODE ENGINE WITH THE STOCK 2 BARREL CARBURATOR THAT STARTS UP ON THE FIRST TRY AND RUNS GREAT! The carb has a slight hesitation when cold but when the car is warmed up it is BARELY NOTICEABLE. The engine retains it FACTORY OIL-BATH AIR CLEANER, STOCK VALVE COVERS, STOCK EXHAUST ETC. A BRAND NEW WATER PUMP was just installed and WORKS GREAT! The exhaust is DUAL GLASSPACKS with CHROME PENCIL TIPS exiting the rear. It LOOKS AND SOUNDS AWESOME. The transmission is the ORIGINAL 3-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION with FACTORY OVERDRIVE that was recently pulled out to install a NEW CLUTCH and THROWOUT BEARING. The transmission shop did not re-hook-up the overdrive because they said it needed a new solonoid and never got around to finding and purchasing a new one. The transmission shifts into ALL GEARS GREAT AS IT SHOULD. The rear end housing was taken apart and REBUILT with NO FUNNY NOISES, HOWLING OR CLUNKING AT ALL. The brakes have been REDONE and WORK FANTASTIC. All the dashlights, headlights, turn signals and brake lights function properly. The WHITE WALL tires with the STOCK WHEELS and FACTORY WHEEL COVERS have a decent amount of tread left although there is no spare. If you plan on driving this car any long distances I would recommend purchasing a spare. I do have NEW RUBBER MOLDING for the trunk that hasn't been installed and any additional parts or parts that are not on the car that I have will come with the sale of this vehicle. I've done my best to describe this car to the best of my knowledge. This is a VERY RARE, TWO-OWNER CLASSIC THAT IS A FANTASTIC INVESTMENT THAT YOU CAN DRIVE! I TOOK THIS CAR FOR A CRUISE TODAY AND IT PERFORMED AMAZINGLY. THERE ARE ENDLESS AMOUNTS OF THUMBS-UP AND PEOPLE WHO COME UP TO ADMIRE IT AND YOU WILL BE THE ONLY ONE AT ANY CAR SHOW YOU SHOW UP AT TO HAVE ONE. IT IS A DEFINITE CONVERSATION PIECE. Remember this is not a show car but an un-restored, single repaint ALL ORIGINAL NICE DRIVER or EXCELLENT CANDIDATE FOR A FULL GROUND UP RESTORATION. Although this car is almost 60 YEARS OLD I would trust it to go anywhere although I cannot guarentee it because after all this is a used car.
