Vehicle Detail

1977 FORD BRONCO RANGER You are looking at a 1977 Ford Bronco Ranger the last, and arguably the best year of the early Broncos. This Bronco was sold new at Ray Skidmore Ford in Lenoir, NC and has been in this general area ever since. Original equipment includes a 302 CI V8, C4 3 speed automatic, Dana 44 front and Ford 9” rear end, power steering, power brakes, front disc brakes, front sway bar, and dual fuel tanks. I purchased this Bronco in 2007 and have used it occasionally as a weekend driver. The engine starts, runs well, and does not smoke. The transmission shifts without hesitation but does leak a small amount of fluid after sitting awhile. There is some play in the driveline. It clunks when going from park to drive. The 4WD is functional but hasn’t been used very often. The secondary gas tank (under the passenger seat) is inoperable. The interior has been reupholstered and recarpeted with the correct OEM materials. The dash pad, door panels, headliner, and rear bench seat are original and are in good shape. The body is a strong point on this Bronco, although it does have rust as with most early Broncos. The worst rust is found in both inner fenders, the bottom of both rocker panels, lower tailgate, and right kick panel. On the contrary, the floors are in near perfect shape and have no rust whatsoever. The remainder of the vehicle, including the hood, fenders, doors, top, and quarters are in good order with nothing more than surface rust or pitting here and there. The door hinge and striker posts are also in good shape but the driver’s door does sag. The paint is showing its age. It appears this Bronco must have rested for many years in a shed/carport/barn that exposed the passenger side to the elements. The paint on the passenger side has taken a beating as compared to the rest of the vehicle. Including the Ranger trim package, this Bronco has all of the desirable options and would make an excellent driver as-is or candidate for a concours restoration. I have enjoyed owning and driving this Bronco. Pictures have been provided for both the good and bad points. I have to tried to cover all the necessary issues, but it is impossible to describe every inch of a vehicle, so don’t hesitate to ask questions if you are unsure of anything. Please do not bid if you aren’t familiar with purchasing classic vehicles. As with anything with age, classic cars require more love, care, and money. If you have any questions I can be reached by email at autosports@charter.net or phone at 828-308-7315. Thanks for looking and check out our collection of Fords at www.classicfordgarage.com . Please make sure to view the extra 53 photos in the provided link. There are plenty of photos showing the trouble areas mentioned in the description above. Most of the rust seen in the pictures of the floorboards is surface rust and/or pitting. Also, there is some surface rust and/or pitting where the upper and low rear quarter panels meet on both sides. This also can be seen in the photos. Please ask questions. If you need any extra pictures I will be happy to provide them. Thanks for your interest.
