Vehicle Detail

1959 Pontiac Starchief                                       Looking for a cruiser that not everyone else in town has? You won't likely see another 59 Starchief as you cruise main street on Saturday night. One year only body style. First year of the wide track body. Full X frame. First year of the 389 engine. This is a great patina cruiser for you drive around town in! You could drive it just like it is or put it on some wide whites, lower it, and throw in some flame throwers! As long as you don't  paint it flat black you should be set! I bought this car to do a quick "clean up and cruise" type job - but one thing led to another and the car got way more work than I ever intended. Faded paint - buffed. Rusty floors - cut out and replaced. Sun baked roof - painted. Dried out interior - replaced. This is a great way for someone to get into a ready to go cruiser for a really decent price. There is more work here than most people would spend on a 4 door sedan - but I think the results were well worth it.                       All of the hard work has been done!                 - Four new floor sections welded in, seamed sealed, and etch primed         - - This is not just some cover up job! All rust was cut out and 18 gauge replacement panels welded in.         - New carpet installed         - New custom made door panels         - - Brand new door cards were made, covered in 1/4" foam and finished in period correct vinyl. Very nice finish on these.         - New custom kick panels         - New custom pillar fill panels         - - B and C pillar fill panels all in the same materials         - New front brakes:         - - Rebuilt wheel cylinders, new shoes, new soft lines, drums turned, master cylinder rebuilt.         - Roof repainted in original white         - - DuPont Chroma Base system - the expensive stuff         - Original paint scuffed and buffed to a great shine         - - 3m Perfect It products used to bring it back to life!         - New Old Stock seat covers installed         - - Probably as old as the car but never out of the box! Great vintage vibe.         - Carburetor rebuilt         - Oil and filter changed         - Plugs cleaned and Gapped         - Points Gapped         - Broken driver door glass replaced                The 389 engine is running great! Here's a video of it:                        What's left to do? Not much. Door and window seals are probably the most          obvious. A previous owner used silicon to close up the vent windows but         it's not enough to keep out the water. If you are going to leave it outside,         you will need to redo the seals or learn to love wet carpet. The car rides         and handles well, but the shocks look to be original and should be replaced         to really get the ride right. Inside the car the headliner is original         and does show it's age. If you win the auction and want to replace the         headliner, I can do that for you for an additional fee. (To see my other         work you can find me on Facebook as "Sanborn7")                 I have put 100 photos of the car and the work on my website. Feel free to check it out and call me if you have any questions.         http://www.sanborn7.com/59Pontiac/album/index                  Please understand: Although this car presents itself very well it is not perfect!         It is 52 years old has some marks to show it's character. The lower paint         is not perfect, just shiny. The dash chrome has pitting, but it is shiny.         This is not a restored show car - it is a resurrected soul who is living         out a 2nd birth - scars and all!                 Now for the fine print:         - If you need to talk to your wife, pastor, lucky stars, or banker about spending money - please do so before calling me or bidding.         - If you want to make payments, make them at your bank. I do not finance anything.         - If you have less than 10 positive feedback, you may not bid without contacting me first.         - If you win the auction and fail to follow through with your end of the deal, I will give you negative feedback.         - I do have the car for sale locally so I may end the auction at anytime.         - Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.         - If you have any questions about the car, please feel free to call me. 417-396-6524         - If you have lots of free time and wants to chat about the good old days or tell me about your projects, please don't call. Lucielle left         me with four hungry children and a crop in the field. I don't have the time for nostalgia.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Here are a few of my favorite yard ornaments!
