Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 2000 Chevy Metro hatchback. It is the 3cylinder, 5speed that gets between 43 and 46 miles per gallon with my combined city and highway driving. It's in great shape, with no rust to really speak of. If you're looking at this car, hopefully you know about the common problems that most Metros have, especially if it has lived in the 'rust-belt'. The rockers and doors and wheelwells on this car are all solid, and the infamous front frame rot is virtually non-existant as well, as there is just surface rust on the frame horns, no through holes, or even close to it that I can see. I tried my best to get good pictures of them both. The underside is in good shape too, especially having spent its life in Ohio and now Michigan. There are a few dings down the drivers side of the car that are somewhat visible in the pictures. Other that an occasional other ding here or there, it's in great shape. The paint is still bright and shiny. I have taken very good care of this car, as did the previous owner. The interior also is in great shape. There are some stains here and there, especially on the very top ridge of the back seat, but they may come out with upholstery cleaner, I'm not sure. The drivers seat on the outermost lumbar bolster is worn a little and has a crack in the 'pleather' from getting in and out of the car. This is a bare-bones model of the car, with NO A/C and NO POWER STEERING. It did not even have a radio when I bought it. I installed a Pioneer radio/cd player in it. The lights/wipers, etc all work like they should, even all the speeds on the heater fan blower work! I have driven this car for over 10,000 miles since I bought it, and it starts/runs/drives great. It goes straight down the road and smooth too, for an eco-box type car. I would and I have driven this on longer road trips with no problems at all. It has a newer battery in it also. This Metro does not leak or burn oil. I never have to add to it between oil changes. (which I absolutely love to do on this car, as I don't even have to put it on ramps or jack it up, because the filter is so accessible) Now for the bad things: The worst in my opinion, is that the shifter will not stay in 5th gear unless you hold it there. It shifts great from 1-5, etc, but once your cruising in 5th gear, the shifter will want to come down and pop the car out of gear. I have read and heard about issues with the transmission displaying this symptom, so I replaced the trans with a 'known good used trans', and it does the same thing. I don't know if there is a problem with the shifter assembly itself pulling it out of gear, or if the used trans I got is somehow messed up also. Like I said, I have driven for over 10K miles with the car doing this, I just hold it in 5th gear when I am on the highway, it's not too big of a deal to me, but might be to you, so bid accordingly. (Included in this auction is the original trans that came out of the car, if you choose to want it) The only other negatives about this car, is that the tires will need replacing sooner rather than later, especially if you're expecting snow this winter. The cords are not showing yet, and they do not lose air, but the tread is getting low. And lastly, the muffler that sits right up under the rear bumper rusted apart from the pipe so I took it down instead of having it swing and rattle up there. This obviously makes the car a little loud, but is easily remedied by a muffler shop (or yourself) if it bugs you more than it does me. (Included in this auction is the muffler that rusted off, if you choose to want it, and I can find it..) I bought this car in order to save gas, as my other vehicles are not as fuel efficient, but I really need to pay down some debt now, so here it is for sale. If you have any questions at all, or want a picture of something more specific, or something I missed in my pictures, please let me know! Vehicle mileage is subject to change as I will probably drive it sometimes before auction ends. I also will not let the vehicle leave my possession with my license plate on it, so be prepared to bring your own or know the laws about transporting a recently purchased vehicle without a plate. This is obviously a used car and there are NO WARRANTIES EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, AND NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES. Anyone is more than welcome to arrange a time with me to see/drive the vehicle before the auction ends. I do have a reserve on this car, but I may sell it even if it doesn't meet the reserve (depending on the final offer obviously). That being said, please don't email me to ask what the reserve is set at. Just bid what you would pay, and we'll go from there. Thanks! I am not putting a PAYPAL deposit on here, as some do not have PAYPAL. If you want to send me one, however, that is extremely appreciated. For final payment, I accept CASH ONLY. Full payment and vehicle pickup must be within 7 days of auction end.On Oct-17-11 at 19:49:24 PDT, seller added the following information:*******I will only sell to buyers in the United States, and will cancel any bids from out of country bidders!! I accept cash only and will sign the title over to the buyer in person. I know a scam when I see it, and to all those that are watching this auction, I cancelled a bid, and that is the reason that the reserve is no longer met. Thanks and good luck to the legitimate bidders!!********
