For sale this very clean 1978 Cheverolet Corvette Pace car. The car is still in the second owners name and is ready to find a new home. The car has been in a Airplane, climate controlled, hanger for years. The California registration shows that it was suspended for many years for lapsing. While I only have the 2nd owners word for sure as to the miles I put the car on a lift and found some very good evidence that the 5800 miles was accurate. If you look at the video you will see that there are still hanging on the leafe springs paper tags that came from the factory. You will also still see the quality control sign off marks are very clear on the chasis. The tires as seen in the pictures below have serial numbers that match 1978. The tire wear show very low miles that would reflect a 1978 vette that would have less than 6,000 miles on them. The tires do show cracks and are not in the condition to drive for long distance but show the true milage and condition of the car.. Low start and No reserve! The options on the car are the 8 track deck, (some unopened 8 tracks included) cruiser control, automatic transmission auto locks and windows. Did you see the personal plates on the CAR! INDYKAR That as well as they are blue makes this a true California gem. The engine is a L48 automatic and is a California car sold originally by Hovey-Dallas Cheverolet in Gardena Califorinia. This was a dealership that over the years was known for seling a lot of quality Cheverolets over the years. The car was registered in Southern California by the coast untill 1990 when it was moved to Palm Desert area. The car shows very little rust due to the desert but there are some body rubber mounts that are showing some cracks. If you look at the picturs you will see the Engine number matching the cars serial number as well as the California designation engine deignation If you do a full inspection what would you find. AS with low use cars there are a couple of small things that are intermediate in the electrical sence. The Clock does not work (but i have a new one just need to install, the tachometer has power but does not work consistantly and the power antenna does not go up. The motor works but it needs a new insert inthe antenna.. The Airconditioning is in need of a charge and you will find the paint is great but not perfect condition. the nose shows the typical oops I pulled in the garage to far and the paint shows that stress. (no body damage just paint.) around the door handles there is some crows feet in the paint. I am not trying to down grade the car just making sure when you come pick it up you will not be disapointed. Great News. The decals for the indy pace car are still in the car in boxes and ready for some one who wants to repaint the car to put them on the car! I remember as a kid driving one of these cars off the tranport truck for my dad's dealership in Montana and the decals were always in the aft area of the car. I have put about 50 miles on the car and it drives and sounds like a new car. the only squeek is at the t-top area, the rest of the car is very solid and very tigth, as you would expect from a car with only 5,800 miles on it.
