Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a rare 1937 FORD PICKUP with a factory stake body. According to author Lorin Sorensen's book "The Commericial Fords", the platform stake bed originally came out in November 1936 for the 1937 pickup. The bed was made by the Midland Company, who was a Ford supplier. Ford made these flatbeds specifically to standard loading dock height for commerical use. It appears as if someone removed the heads, put them in the cab, then parked the truck never to be touched again. I've hooked up a 6v battery charger to it and the head lights did come on. The high/low beam switch worked along with the "map" light on the passenger side. I don't know the condition of the engine but imagine it would need to be freed up. Again, it looks to me like someone greased the cylinders years ago but there is some dust/dirt mixed in. I believe this to be a deluxe model due to the duel windshield wiper and horns. An old receipt found in the glove box said "kurt's gas". Also, when I removed the spare tire, I noticed "kurt's Gas" was written with a yellow paint stick on the rim. A possible previous owner's name? Your guess is as good as mine but it could be an interesting clue to the history of this truck which came from Virginia at one point. Anyway this is a great restoration project-everything is as it was when originally built - which is a rare find in itself! No guess work or body putty here. These trucks are gorgeous when restored - hard to find in original condition - A TRUE DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH !!! DON"T MISS OUT !!! Sorry no title which I'm told is not unusual for a truck of this age...good luck.
