Vehicle Detail

You are looking at my 1957 Chevy that I have owned since the late 1970's. It is a real Bel Air with all the Bel Air trim. I rebuilt it once in '79 and drove it off and on for a few years before I tore it down for a complete frame-off restoration. I have recently descided that I will probably never be able to finish the car the way I want to and would like to see someone be able to finish it and get some enjoyment out of it. I'll try and list what I have done to the car but if you are interested in it please contact me with any questions and I will answer them as best I can for you. Please note that I am not going to give this car away and have set a reasonable reserve on the car. Please do not bid if you are not serious about buying the car. I took the car down to the bare frame and built it up from there. All painted parts have been blasted to remove paint/rust and then primer coated in Dupont acid etch primer and painted in Dupont Centari single stage enamel. The car is painted 1992 Chevrolete #25 Bright Teal that was used on S10 Pickup trucks that year. I still have the mixing codes for the paint color if you choose to keep it this way. I didn't paint the hood yet so it is still red (original color). The paint job on the exterior didn't turn out as good as I had wanted it to so I had begun to wet sand it in preperation for another couple of coats of color but I never finished the job. I would think a good body shop could respray it with no problems and not have to do too much prep work on it. The frame and related componets were all painted Centari black enamel. The underside of the body was coated with undercoating because I wanted to drive this car when finished and not have to worry about paint chips on the floor. You can see the floor from the bottom in one of the pictures I have posted. The body was in very good shape, never wrecked, but had some small amounts of rust-through in the usual areas. I have detailed photos of most of the rust repairs as well as most of the work done on the car. I did all the work myself and can tell you where and what I did to the car. All rusted metal was removed and new pieces welded in. The doors, hood, and trunk lid were nearly rust free with no rust-through on any of them. The frame was very nice as well with no rust-through either. The car is completely rust-free as it sits today. The engine is a 1972 454 2 bolt main block with 1967 427 heads on it. I had the '67 427 in the car but when I did the tear-down on the motor I discovered a severe crack in the block and bought the 454 block to replace it (I couldn't find a good 427 at the time). The rods and crank are stock GM and the pistons are aftermarket but I'm not sure of the brand, they are 9:1 compression. The block and heads were rebuilt by Boyds Machine Shop here in Norman Ok. The rockers, cam, and lifters are all Lunati roller units and the lifters are solid lift. I have the cam specs if you would like them. The carb is a new Demon 850 double pumper mounted on an Edlebrock Air Gap manifold that has been HPC coated. The headers are also HPC coated and feed into 2 1/4 in. stainless steel exhaust that goes all the way out the back through duel stainless turbo mufflers. The engine has virtually no miles on it, just a few trips around the block. The trans is a 1967 Muncie 4 speed that came out of a Chevelle (that is where the 427 came from as well). I'm not sure of the ratio on the gears. It was rebuilt in '79 when I did the first rebuild on the car and has less than 5k miles on it today. The rear end is a 12 bolt unit from a late 60's chevelle but is a non-posi unit. I do not know the gear ratio that is in it now. I had plans to put a posi unit in it with 3:73 gears but never was able to get it done. I re-wired the car using a late model GM fuse box and new harnesses and it looks and works good but I was going to replace it with an American Autowire kit to make it more professional looking and trust worthy. What it has now will probably work fine but I would have the Autowire kit put in just to be sure. Some of the new parts and modifications are, but not limited to; all new rubber and seals all new body mount bushings and bolts all new suspention componets front and rear all new screws and fasteners, most are stainless steel and many are botton head allen bolts Dakota Digital gauges MSD 6A ignition box Mallory Unilite distributor fuel cell in trunk (recessed to make less intrusive) custom made steel box for the fuel cell tilt steering column from a '78 firebird modified to fit the '57 (looks like it came from GM this way!) Smoothed firewall with recesses for the Big Block all heater componets removed (I wasn't going to drive it in the winter anyway!) Shaved door handles remote control for doors and trunk lid smoothed and filled dash with custom stainless steel insert gold V and script removed and holes filled on the trunk lid ( I was going to do the hood but haven't as yet) etc., too many things to list here. One thing of note about the car is that the VIN tag that was spot welded on the car had come loose from one of its welds so I took it off the car. When I twisted it off it made a small hole where the good weld was so I drilled a hole in the other spot weld mark with the intent of riveting it back on the car when I was finished with the paint work but haven't done that yet. I have the tag and none of the numbers were damaged on it. The car is being sold “as is” with no other claims being made either explicit or implied and is also for sale locally therefore, if sold prior to the auction ending, I reserve the right to end the auction early. Shipping/pick-up arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer, however I will assist in loading and however I can if needed. Please feel free to call with any questions (405) 613-3236. A deposit of $1000.00 will be required within 24 hours of auctions ending time and the remaining balance within seven (7) days of auctions end. Neither this vehicle nor the title will be released until full payment has cleared and is satisfied. On Oct-02-11 at 16:44:34 PDT, seller added the following information: I wanted to add that I have almost every piece for this car except for the front windshield and wiper motor. I have the original seats but will need to be recovered. I have the side glass but it is not good and will need to be replaced. All the chrome pieces, bumpers, hood bar, grille bar, tail light housings, etc. will need to be re-chromed or replaced. I have a new set of repro headlight bezels and a set of NOS rocker panel moldings that will go with the car. Also I have all new window felt and weatherstipping for the car. I have all the hard to find stainless Bel Air trim and every piece of side trim including a very nice set of original quarter panel inserts that came on this car. Any little imperfection in the stainless trim was removed and only needs a good polish to be perferct. On Oct-06-11 at 15:06:53 PDT, seller added the following information: Video of the engine running http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-phA7b3p4sw Video of walk-around car http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQER-ZfnsKw
