Vehicle Detail
This is a 100% Texas car that started as a father/son high school restoration project & came out much better than planned. After several years of careful use (only shows & Corvair club events) the son is starting a family (no more time or $$), & the father (with 4 other Corvairs) has no space to store another. This is not a show car, but it shows nicely at any car show. It has been on display 3 times at the Houston Autorama classic car show & won 2nd in class. It was also one of 4 (1965 vintage) cars chosen for the Astros 45th anniversary parade through Houston's Reliant stadium. If you want a beautiful car that is not a trailer queen (that you can drive!), this is for you. Stats: 1965 Monza convertible, rebuilt 140hp, 4sp. Previous one-owner Houston car, was un-restored with original paint when we got it. Non-significant rust (successfully repaired), no other body damage. Very original car- kept as original as possible. It is the original Regal Red color, red interior & white top (as specified on the body plate). The 140 hp engine was rebuilt with NOS pistons/cylinders, heads rebuilt, 180hp cam (it revs a little better than stock), both primary & secondary carbs rebuilt. New 65amp internal voltage regulator alternator, New Starter, New brakes, gas tank cleaned & sealed w/new sender. New shocks (front: Clark's, rear: KYB gas). Front end not removed, but most bushings replaced including tie rods, pitman, sway bar, etc. New u-joints x4, torque arm bushings, strut rods, etc. It is one of the smoothest 140's I have driven. New Clark's top & carpeting. New interior done with velour seat inserts (perfect in Texas!). 3" Tachometer in center "clock" position, Rust Terminator installed (constant 2x/sec current pulsed throughout body to keep rust-free). The interior was undercoated, painted & insulated with 1/4" AC insulation, making it much quieter. CD Radio (behind 'original/custom' AM radio faceplate). Bumpers were rechromed. The car is always garaged & covered. Only 4,000 miles since it's restoration. Feel free to visit & inspect it on my lift. Please ask for any additional photos that you may want. I believe it is easily worth more than the buy it now price, and the reserve is even less. This car drives great & I would not hesitate to drive it to anywhere in the US. Please feel free to ask any questions.
