Vehicle Detail
1986 Porsche 928 - Looks good, Runs Great Here is your chance to own the world's most expensive production sports car and one of the most powerful. Since the space shuttles have all been retired, you'll have to have a ride in a Porsche 928 to experience the same eye popping, toe curling acceleration. You are bidding on a 1986 Porsche; sold as is. It looks good and runs great. I am unsure of the miles on the odometer, it presently reads 75,000 miles. The inspection sticker is good until 10/11. Under the hood sits a 5.0 liter aluminum V-8 producing 288 hp with an automatic transmission. The exterior is black complemented by a black leather interior. This car is powerful, Stylish and luxurious ... while capable of speeds in excess of 140 mph in total comfort. I've owned Porsche 911's but I had always wanted a 928. In 2006 I flew to Florida, purchased the 928 and drove the car back to Maine. I had a grand time along the way blowing the doors off a bunch of wannabe drag racers. Just prior to my purchasing the car, the previous owner spent $4,900.00 on a comprehensive tune up and assorted repairs. I have spent approximately $5,000.00 on the suspension system, electrics, cooling system. The car has a whopper of a stereo system. The starting price (with no reserve) is exactly half the value of a 928 parts car. The battery is brand new. The stock muffler was replaced with a pair of Cherry Bombs. I have only put 2,000 local miles on the car since it was purchased because I wanted the car to be restored as far as my billfold would allow. But, fate stepped into the ring with me last November and the bout lasted until June. I contracted severe pneumonia twice which led to congestive heart failure. (Not good at age 76.) But, HEY! I know that whoever gets this wonderful car will truly appreciate the work, time and money that I've spent on it. Finally, I was totally satisfied with the mechanicals and I was looking around for a body shop. However, the paint is passable. There are some tiny dings on the paint, here and there, from 25 years of normal wear. The front bumper cover has a small tear that can be easily repaired. there is no front air dam. The vehicle has NO rust (naturally, the body is all aluminum). The interior is good. There are a few cracks on the dash board and the seats could stand some minor re-stitching. The electric door locks are now manual door locks. I have the original Porsche 928 owner's manual. All attached photographs were taken on 09/15/2011. Last year, while parked at a repair garage to get a new inspection sticker, a car backed into the front of the Porsche. The only damage was a very slight dent beside left front headlight. After the "accident" the car was professionally checked over both mechanically and electrically and was given a new state inspection sticker.
