This Right Hand Drive, 4 Wheel Drive Jeep Cherokee is ideal for rural route postal delivery. It has been very well maintained and is in good shape for its age and mileage. We have had it since 2005 with 78,000 miles and it has been very reliable. It is being sold because we upgraded to a 2009 RHD Jeep Wangler. In my experience, watching ebay for several years, RHD jeeps are harder to find in this region, especially in MI. - Engine, transmission, transfer case, suspension, steering and drive train are all in good working condition and components have been replaced over time as you can see by the repair history below. The transmission was rebuilt at 78,000 miles and a trans fluid cooler was added - There is minimal rust and the interior is also in good condition. - The Michelin LTX A/T2 tires have lots of tread with only 15,000 miles on them . - The Power windows, locks, brakes, steering all work. - It has a JVC KD-HDR50 Stereo with JVC hands-free Bluetooth speakerphone add-on (installed July 2009) - There is a wood platform in place of the passenger seat to make it easier to deal with mail bins. It is not attached and can be easily lifted out. The passenger seat is included and has never been used. It can be easily re-installed with 4 bolts. - Rear seat bench can easily be removed / installed by one person in 30 seconds if you prefer to have it out of the way instead of sticking up (as pictured) when the back seat is folded down. - Spare tire mount which can be easily reinstalled in the cargo area (included - we took it out for more space) - Spare tire with matching (rusty) rim and non-matching tire (included) - There is some oil leakage from the engine rear main seal. This is pretty common for this engine at this age and mileage Like all used vehicles, the Jeep is sold as-is and although it is in good condition it is not perfect. You are welcome to contact me to inspect or test drive it. Here is everything I know to be wrong with it: - The engine light has been on since the day we bought it. The error codes are P1898, P0700 & P0000 which indicate intermittent communication failure between the ECM (Engine Control Module) and TCM (Transmission Control Module). We have had many shops look into this and they have not been able to find the cause. We have replaced the ECM (still good, old one is included) and had the wiring continuity checked between ECM & PCM. However there are no symptoms and for the six years we owned it with the engine light on, it always started and ran great so we stopped looking for a problem that does not seem to exist. - It has small paint chips and scratches. The front edge of the hood has some discoloration and paint wear from a bug guard it came with but has been removed. - It has a small tear in the drivers seat (pictured) and wear through of the carpet in one area of the drivers foot compartment. - The rear wiper does not work because the switch in the dash to turn it on is broken. - The passenger door lock cylinder will not turn with the key. I suspect that is due to rust in the cylinder which built up over time from lack of use. There door still locks and unlocks fine using the power locks - If you notice the steering wheel looks funny in the picture, it has a thick padded cover on it which can be easily removed if you prefer. PAYMENT TERMS $250 deposit required within 3 business days of purchase. Paypal or Money Order preferred. You can inspect the vehicle before the auction ends including having it inspected locally by a third party at your expense. I will take it to a local shop of your choosing within reasonable distance if you make arrangements for them to inspect it. If a third party inspected the vehicle before purchase, the $250 deposit is non-refundable. You have 5 business days after purchase to inspect the vehicle or have it inspected locally by a third party professional at your expense as long as you have already paid the deposit. Unless you can show evidence that something is significantly different than I described it or any single item requires significant repairs (>$750) in the short term, the deposit is non-refundable. For example, there is a rear main seal oil leak, I don't know how much that would cost to repair but it is not cheap, lets say it is >$750 for the purpose of my example. I have disclosed that problem, and I believe a mechanic will agree that it is not a significant problem requiring repair in the short term (my recollection is that it had the leak since I bought it) so it would not qualify. If a professional inspection does show significant repairs required in the short term I will reimburse you for the inspection up to $100. My intent with these terms is to protect me from a winning bidder who can not pay, changes their mind or thinks a 1997 vehicle with 139K miles will be in like new condition and not have plenty of components with "some" wear that "could" be replaced. It should also protect you by providing access for inspection and refund of up to $100 inspection cost if I have not disclosed or am not aware of any major problem. Balance of payment is due within 10 business days of purchase by Check or Money Order and must clear my bank before you take delivery and I sign the title over. Please make sure you agree with these terms or explicitly arrange other terms with me in writing before bidding. You will need to pick up and transport the vehicle from South Lyon, MI. I may be willing to provide delivery at a cost depending on the details. Do not assume delivery can be provided unless we agree on terms in writing before the auction ends.
