Vehicle Detail

This is a 1956 Corvette I am selling for my Father. He purchased the car in 1978 as a running vehicle, last licensed it in 1982, and some time after that started to spruce it up as a daily driver. He had all the chrome removed and gave the car a professional lacquer paint job in stock Venetian Red. The car has been kept covered indoors, and the paint is still in very good condition. He had most of the trim re-chromed and installed some of it on the car, and then stopped due to health issues. The car has been in storage since. The chrome has deteriorated in storage and most of it is pitted again. The engine (which is not original) has locked up, and pulling the heads has revealed surface rust in some of the cylinders. The pictures below detail what I know about the car's condition and the components that are included. The car has a clear title. Only those items pictured are included. The car is sold "as is", with no warranty or guarantee. The car is located in Bridgeport, WV and must be picked up there. Odometer Reading 80273.5 Serial No. VE56S002585 Convertible Top - The top is complete. The canvas has a couple small tears, the rear window is yellowed, and there is light rust on some of the frame, but it is all there and should be restorable. Chrome & Stainless Trim - Only what is pictured below is available. The grill still has the wax that was applied after it was rechromed. I cleaned a small section to show the actual surface. Inside Window Trim - Top of the Door Side Trim - This is all I could find. Door Sill Trim Windshield - I think all the trim and hardware is here. All 4 hubcaps are on the car. They are in fair shape, each with some dents and scratches from years of handling Interior Trim - The seats were reupholstered by the previous owner. The fabric has been removed from the passenger seat. Aftermarket "Waffle Pattern" trim was purchased as shown in the pictures Driver's Seat Driver's Seat Passenger Seat Replacement Seat Upholstry Replacement Door Panel Kits Replacement Kick Panels Replacement Dash Cover Frame & Suspension - The frame has only surface rust. It was undercoated by a previous owner, and the undercoating can be seen flaking off in some of the pictures. The car was evidently used as a race car at some point in it's life, and the frame has been drilled, which was a common practice in the 60's and 70's to reduce weight. Liberties were also taken in cutting the x-brace and welding on brackets, probably for various exhaust systems. The front suspension and rear end appear to be original. Driver side frame rail, looking forward Passenger side frame & suspension, looking forward Driver side, looking forward Driver side, behind rear axle Rear Crossmember, Driver Side Rear Crossmember, Passenger Side Passenger Side, behind Rear Axle Passenger Side, in Front of Rear Axle Passenger Side Frame Rail Center X Brace taken from the Rear Engine & Transmission - Neither the engine or transmission are original. The engine appears to be a 1962 vintage 327 block & heads. The intake is a 1957 vintage single 4 barrel with a Carter AFB carburetor. The transmission is a 4 speed manual of unknown vintage with a stock 4 speed shifter, also of unknown vintage. The engine locked up in storage and the heads were pulled, revealing rust in the cylinders. It may or may not be salvageable. There is no serial number stamped in the block, perhaps because the block was decked, or perhaps it was a GM replacement. Engine compartment from Passenger Side, note original tach drive generator and non-original fan Engine Compartment from Driver's Side Block Casting Number 3732870 Block Date Code "L 4 2", December 4, 1962? Block Front Pad, no Serial Number Stamp Head Date Code "G 2 0 2", July 20, 1962? Head Date Code "G 2 1 2", July 21, 1962? Head Casting No. 3782461, the same on both heads Head "Double Hump" Casting Intake Manifold Castings, 3731398 - 1957 Corvette 220 HP 283?; Date Code "C 6 57" Carter 4 Barrel Carburetor
