Vehicle Detail

This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 MKIII is a solid and very straight car. Body is aluminum with steel doors, hood, and trunk lid. It is a car that originally "lived" in California, then brought to the east coast up until it's time here in Chicago 4+ years ago. It has 64K miles on the working odometer and judging by all indicators; lack of wear, hose clamps, tags, hardware, etc. these appear to be original. The car shows no sign of being "restored", yes painted once in it's original color, but nicely maintained over the years as needed. Mechanically it's a great driver. Last summer the owner drove from Chicago to New york with no problems. Trans. and overdrive, brakes and emergency brake, motor; not a leaker, all function very well. The frame, especially at the rear sections and spring boxes, and flooring are original and solid. The top has no holes or tears, bows and header no rust. Back window is clear, not yellowed or "stiff"; stored with top up and it latches solidly to wind shield frame...no flexing. This car is not a "trailer queen", so in that it could use some attention at; #1) The trunk lid to be redone, all around the seam; a common trouble spot. #2) Right front fender was tapped at the head lamp/bucket area. #3) Windshield has wiper worn mark; of course on driver's side and too deep to polish out. #4) Driver's door window has rub marks from loose window mechanism, glass needs replacement. #5) Line up on passenger side window to top is off more than exceptable for a very rainy day. #6) The front seats have been redone in original English leather kits, and other than the carpeting, all else is original from 1967, so it shows wear. #7) The tachometer "bounces" when it in the mood. #8) The exhaust pipes sound great; they are basically new with no leaks, but scrape marks are present. This car is a very good and solid driver, and a good example of one to get to show condition. Winning bidder must pay a non-refundable $2000.00 Paypal deposit within 24 hours & complete the sale within seven days of auction close. Buyer is responsible for transportation from Chicago, IL.
