This 1982 Airhead operates perfectly. It has been blueprinted, and is incredibly smooth up to 75 mph. The mirrors are rock steady to that speed. It is the high 70 horsepower, high compression engine with the 2.91 final drive; making it perfect for interstate cruising. I purchased the bike with appx 25,000 miles on the clock. I took a quick trip to New England and got chased home by Hurricane Irene; adding another 3800 miles to the speedo. Two owners ago it apparently had the clock repaired and reset to zero, at around 25k miles. The owner before me replaced the timing chain, although it didn't need it. He also replaced various seals and gaskets, rod bearings (original units measured as new), most clutch parts, tranny bearings and seals, final drive seals, front wheel bearings and seals, fork seals, throttle cables, brake pads, master cylinder, carb diaphragms, gaskets and o rings, and the list goes on. Suffice it to say that the bike is basically new, as of 10,000 miles ago. It has a Clearview windscreen with the vent. The rear rack is a Reynolds folding model with a huge KR box mounted. It will hold a full face helmet. The bags are the fabulous Krauser units. Rear shocks are Koni. The side stand is a Brown unit. Horn is a freeway blaster. This bike is truly in as close to perfect shape as you can ask for a bike that is ridden. My recent trip was without incident and a pleasure to ride. Selling because I need the money, no surprise there nowadays. I will be driving to Florida next week sometime, and could deliver if between Nashville and anywhere in Florida.
