Vehicle Detail
i have decided to sell my 1931 ford coupe to purchase a 1960 impala 2 door bubble top. my daughter and myself have driven this car almost every saturday to the car shows over the summer. this is all steel, even the fenders, except radiator grill shell. this has been the most dependable hot rod i have owned so far. the car came out of california originally. engine is either a 289 or 302, with a very healthy sounding cam, with headers. paint is a pearl white. i will go through the car in stages. BODY: the body is a super nice solid all steel car, with a very nice clean chop done on it. looks to be about a 3" chop. i am 5'10" and can sit straight up with out hitting my head on the roof. fenders are nice steel also. hood lifts off if you want to run with out one. has maroon scallops. paint is some sort of a pearl white. dont know how old it is, but has a couple of small cracks in paint on front fender. the rear lower fender also has 1 small part down low. it is a very pretty car, and really sparkles in the sun. has 1939 tail lights, and big ford marked headlights. all the turn signals, flashers, and brake lights work. has a 1932 rear frame section and gas tank. this makes it nice to go to a car show to actually be able to fully use the trunk! we have a cooler, and 6 chairs we bring in the trunk. the doors lock with a key. doors shut with 1 finger--no slamming them like others. this must have been a real nice body to start with, very solid. INTERIOR: very nice traditional 60"s style interior. clean and simple, and never goes out of style like billit or 80's type cloth. has a tilt steering column with a 14" banjo wheel. all gauges are vdo, and they all work, and are accurate. car charges well, runs very strong oil pressure, and with out fan on, runs around 140-160 down the highway. the only time i turn it on is in traffic, and was running around 200 on a 95 degree day. seat has a slide, and tilt on it. even has an e-brake. all glass has a slight tint. windows, and rear roll up and down sometimes need help going up straight, as did my others. carpet is a full black loop style. has a 32 style instrument panel. the only thing i was going to do on the inside is re-paint the dash to maybe white or checker board. dash has some slight sanding marks on it if you look at an angle, just dash part only. old vintage chrome dash top, with skeleton head thats eyes light up when lights are on. DRIVETRAIN: the engine is either a 289 or 302, not sure, but when i put on the cobra valve covers, saw the heads were 351 heads. vintage 60"s intake that says 289 on it, i think its an edlebrock torker and carb sits at a slight angle, with cobra valve covers, and air cleaner. was going for the mid 60's look. transmission is a c-4 with lokar shifter with piston head for shifter. car has headers and full exhaust out the back. mustang steering box. the steering is a lot like my last 31-turns sharper to the right than left--adjustment, or nature of the beast? and power disc front brakes. 8" rear end with coil overs. traditional hair pins on front--look old, and ladder bar rear. a guy looked at the front axle and said it looked like an old moor drop front end.. the frame semi boxed and reinforced traditional style. car must not twist at all, as the doors shut with 1 finger. wheels are traditional rims with hubcaps and rings . rear tires are a 275x60x15 bfg. they fit nice under the car. the power brakes stop the car smooth quick and straight, at low rpms, the cam has a little more effect on this. ENDING: i describe as much as possible--good and bad, as most cars on e-bay have 2 line descriptions and they want $30,000.00+ for them. i have never had anyone up set by describing to much. i would drive this car anywhere, as it is that reliable. car drives down the road smooth and straight, and runs 75 easy and smooth. this is not a 100 point indoor showcar, but a nice driver. the only things i could say it needs is---1) a horn, 2) wiper-which i have a new one not installed. THE RESERVE ON THIS CAR WILL BE UNDER $20,000.00!! I WILL INCLUDE A BUY IT NOW, BUT ONCE RESERVE IS MET--IT WILL GO AWAY! IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN 10+ FEED BACKS, PLEASE E-MAIL BEFORE BIDDING, OR I MAY CANCEL YOU OUT. CHECK MY FEED BACKS, I AM NOT NEW TO THIS, AND KNOW HOW TO DESCRIBE A CAR. FOR THE MONEY ITS A GREAT CAR-PRICED LIKE A RAT ROD. IT IS NOT PERFECT, BUT A NICE DRIVER/ SHOW CAR, AND ITS ALL FORD!!!! RARE TO FIND A FORD WITH A FORD ANYMORE. I CAN STORE CAR FOR 1 MONTH FREE, THEN $75.00 PER MONTH. TITLE AND INSURED IN MY NAME. OVERSEAS BIDDING FINE!!! THE ONLY THING I MAY TRADE FOR WOULD BE A NICE 1960 IMPALA 2 DOOR BUBBLE TOP. PLEASE E-MAIL WITH ANY QUESTIONS.
