"I never thought I'd be selling it...". Sad but true. I bought this bike in 2007 from a guy up in Maine. It ran ok then, and runs great now. Tickle the carbs, and it's a 1-2 kicker everytime. It was set up with as a cruiser with ape hangers and a forward controls at the time, but I really like to get down on it, so in '09, the guys at Choppahead set it up like one of their customs, with mids and a set of cafe bars. The carbs were a little crappy, so they put a new set of Amals on at that point. It's got a '78 750cc bonneville 5 speed engine and right side shift and unknown number of miles. The 750 provides waaaaay more power than the skinny rear tire can handle... lots of fun! I believe the front loop is a '67 or '69. The rear section is a unknown plunger that is pretty firm, so don't buy this thing thinking it's not a hardtail... it's a hardtail. I would guess it's a 6" over tail section. I only ride in the summers out here on the island, and it's in storage in the winter. I'd guess I've put 3-4K on her. I'm not a big chrome guy if you couldn't tell... I like patina, so when we put it together I used a lot of used parts with some age to them... If you're looking for a show bike, this ain't it, but this thing gets more attention then most, thats for sure. There's no serious rust, but there is surface rust. SEE PHOToS... Some is real, but others like the tank and fender are painted that way. Everything functions as it should. It runs a little rich, there's a little back fire on deceleration. The rear tire is getting some craks and wear, but I have a brand spanking new 4x18 Firestone Champion tire arriving this week that will be included with the bike if the buyer would like it. Things I'd do beside the rear tire this winter, would be to replace the foot rubbers and grips (pretty banged up), handle bars are bent a little and right foot peg got bent when some huge guy stood on it... gotta love aluminum! Horn and lights work fine, and it's currently inspected and registered here in Mass. NO TURN SIGNALS. Interesting story about the tank. The paint on the tank was done buy a guy down south... Tennesse I think. I mailed him my tank and it magically went missing in the mail. Six months later he had it listed on ebay with the custom warbird paint scheme you see... great guy! Never remebered my missing tank, so when the post office called to say they had some unknown gas tanks for his address he just paited them up and thought he'd sell them... In any event, he's a scammer, but one hell of a painter. It looks great with the pin-up lady on the side. Lucky for me I like army green! Ask any questions you might have. I can deliver the bike to Hyannis MA for pick-up. If your looking for it to go further than that, make sure you've got a great plan, and talk with me about it. I forgot to mention that it does have a broken spoke on the back wheel... never had the wheel off it to fix and it never really bothered me...but wanted to make sure I mentioned it. It also has straight pipes with no baffles, so it's on the louder side... loud bikes are safe bikes:) They originally had muffler wrap on them, but when I took it off to replace it, I like the worn look, so never rewrapped them. I just added a couple more photos of the fender and top of tank for those who asked... Video of it running. http://www.youtube.com/embed/z9IRrU0yvTY On Aug-26-11 at 12:52:47 PDT, seller added the following information: I added photos of the tire that just came in and is included with the sale if wanted... 4x18 of pure Firestone goodness!!! Some say they handle for crap, but everyone knows they look cool as.On Aug-28-11 at 21:27:34 PDT, seller added the following information: Added a couple of requested shots of the seat. Sticker says it's from R&R Cycles out of Maryland, pretty well known shop outside of DC, no other marks that I can see. I dont have rear bolted down as I tape my paperwork to the bottom and like to access it easily.
