Vehicle Detail
This is a rare original 1972 fire-engine red MB 350SL. It is its original, unrestored, but well maintained condition. Technically I am the second owner because this was my mother's car and has seen little use over the past years. The vehicle is a southern California car from new. Garaged always. Vehicle is very servicable and can be driven daily. Runs solid, a/c blows cold, etc. Has removable hard top with pulley system, although to my knowledge the convertible top has never been used. Complete engine rebuild in June, 1991 at 153,081 miles. That means approximately 30 k in 20 years on rebuild. Due to long time in storage I had the following maintenance done 8/29/07 at 184,401 miles ( 532 miles ago): Full tune-up, new battery, oil & filter, flush out brake lines and cooling, brake service. Run occasionally since and starts right up and runs strong. Estate sale now requires liquidation. Low reserve. The car is not perfect and there are several items you should be aware of. The clock does not work, tires have tread but unknown age and probably should be replaced, visors could use recovering, top rattles some and my technician suggests replacement of grommets, a trim clip seems to be missing on the r/hand side of console which results in a loose fit and can interfere with glove box opening until replaced. Vehicle is available for inspection with reasonable notice in San Diego. Payment by Paypal or cashier's check only. $500 deposit due within three days of closing of auction and balance within seven working days or bid is forfeit. Collection and transportation solely at buyer's expense. On Aug-23-11 at 16:56:43 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE: The 1991 rebuild consisted of a valve job, timing chain and gear, oil pump replacement, one piston and cylinder liner, brakes, hoses, and miscellaneous parts for a total of $6898.
