Vehicle Detail
My wife and I bought this one owner from new 1967 Bug for my wife's sister as a graduation present. She was not comfortable driving it, so we took it back. We bought this car as an all original Beetle with no body damage--EVER. No rust --EVER Perfect pans. All panels are original German (fenders, hood, decklid, and doors) and all glass except the windshield are also original German with Securit markings. The rear bumper is original (rechromed) and the front is a Wolfsburg West model. Turn lenses, headlights and tailights are also German and marked Hella. The body was completely stripped to bare are repainted the original Zenith blue in two stage PPG base/clear. Interior is very nice as it was completely redone with original style headliner and TMI seats. The seat frames, shifter, petal assembly, bumper mounts, gas tank and other parts were powdercoated for durability. Carpets are square weave German wool in light blue. Floor mats cover the passenger floor and are from Wolfsburg West. All rubber seals are German as are the runningboards and exterior trim. Dash features a refurbished speedometer from Corona Ryan are show just over 8000 miles which is since restoration. Also, the dash has a reproduction Banjo steering wheel with Sun and Moon horn button, Retro Autosound radio, refurbished fuel gauge, original 1967 olny knobs, new grab handle and chrome trim. New battery. The drivetrain is completely new featuring a NEW front beam adjusters and drop spindles. It has four wheel disc brakes and real sway bars front and rear (not a camber compensator, it's a real rear sway bar). The transmission is from Rancho Performance Transaxles and is a high performance freeway flyer model with welded third and fourth gears and 3.88 R&P. It shifts perfectly through the (powdercoated) stock shifter with custom knob. The heart of this car is the Pat Downs built engine. It is a 1955cc with the following specs: All NEW components, new case, forged 76mm crankshaft, Mahle forged 90.5 mm pistons and cylinders, Total Seal second rings, 044 Heads (40mm intake and 35.5mm exhaust valves), Computer Fuel Injection with "closed loop" system (as seen in Hot VWs), high temp coated heaterboxes and exhaust, deep sump (six quarts total), external filter and oil cooler. This engine has only test miles on it and runs great. All engine tins are powdercoated gloss black. Wheels are vintage 1970s mags and were refurbished at Mag Masters. Front tires are 145s and the rears are 185s in like new condition. Spare is an original 1970s Continental mounted to a VW rim with real VW hubcap This is a really nice car that needs nothing to drive or VERY LITTLE to show. We have too many cars so it has to go. It will be missed! Please contact me should you have questions about the car or t arranged a viewing in person.
