Rare opportunity! buy Lucy's truck! Reserve lowered 1968 Chevrolet C20 Fleetside Pickup Truck is solid and rust free (no holes or rusted out areas). It is a ONE OWNER vehicle with 40,000 original miles. Recently my adopted father passed away and we need to sell his truck. He purchased this truck brand new from Inglewood Chevrolet as he was an aviation engineer and instructor at the Northrup Institute of Technology (staff stickers in front window!). The first thing he did was to hand build the aluminum shell for camping. It has the original wood floor bed that has never been in the weather. This truck has been driven less than 1000 miles a year. It spent its first few years in Southern California, then moved to Texas as he went to work for Convair (General Dynamics) where he had previously done work in the 50's on the FICON trapeze system parasite fighter. He then retired to Utah where he grew up.. This is a basic work truck in Chevrolet terms, it has a 307 V8, a 3 speed column shift, a 6000# rear axle. I have the original black and gold California plate and California Registration card. It was purchased with the radio delete plate as he didn't like the noise. It has never been smoked in. This truck has ALWAYS been garaged since new and maintained well beyond factory standards as he was an engineer who appreciated equipment maintenance. It was recently licensed for the year and emission tested last month. I took it to the local Chevrolet dealer and had them go over it front to back and replace all the fluids and also check everything over and fix anything needed (nothing serious found). The only known flaw is that the gas gauge is inoperable but I have all new parts (gauge and sending unit) but haven't installed them. I believe it is the float that needs replacement but I ordered both to be sure. As can be seen from the photos it is in very good rust free condition. There are a few dings and such on the pickup bed that could be easily repaired by anyone with basic body work skills and typical lite surface rust scale on the undersides. The paint is all original and there are no substantial scratches to bare metal through the paint. I have tried to photograph them to the best of my ability. The cab corners are solid as new and any rust is simply surface scale and could probably be easily cleaned off. I have the original build sheets (one in the truck seat back and the other in worse condition in a folder.) It comes with the original owners manual, and the original Chevrolet published service manual. The only thing it might need immediately is new tires. It DOES NOT have Power Steering or Power Brakes. It is a long wheel base version (4X8 bed) Having never learned to drive Lucy wanted me to have the truck but I am selling it for her as all she has is Social Security and it would be nice for her to have a bit of money in the bank (although she counts on me for a lot I'm neither a millionaire or a truck guy). The reserve is very reasonable for this vehicle and with a small amount of effort it could go to one of the big auctions and command top dollar in my opinion as it is a 100% original survivor. We don't want any trades, I don't want any “I know that car and can sell it for you” or any of those other nonsense things, I didn't just fall off the turnip truck, I am just trying to help someone enjoy her remaining years.
