Amazing rare 1 owner best ive ever seen. (((make fair offer))) Buick built some great cars in the 1950s, but without argument, the most sumptuous and lavishly equipped cars were the one-year-production-only 1958 700 Series B-58 Limiteds. Prior to World War II, the Limited was Buick’s most luxurious car and discontinued because they were so luxurious Cadillac sales were suffering. Following the war, the Roadmaster was the top of the Buick line until 1958 when Harley Earl permitted the Limited to be produced. The car carried magnificence to a new level with nearly 1,000 pounds of chrome and trim on the car alone. Coinciding with a severe recession that began in late 1957, the car was a hit but few people could afford to purchase one with a sticker price that was solidly in Cadillac range. Only 839 convertibles in total were produced…ever! The Limited ran into resistance both from the economy and the exit of Harley Earl, and the heads of GM cancelled the project the very next year making the Limited a one-year-only model. There were several unique 1958-only features, and the whole style of the car kept the military jet fighters of the day in mind. The survival rate is quite low on these cars with an estimated 75 or so still in existence. What is virtually unheard of today is a one-owner 1958 Limited. we are delighted to offer what is possibly the last one-owner 1958 Buick Limited Convertible in existence. Not only is it one owner from new, it has been carefully maintained and restored by that owner and carries what is probably the most comprehensive folio of documentation and records imaginable. Upon purchase in ’58, the owner started a log book to show every bit of service (including gasoline fill-ups) from new. This log book is included with the car. Also with the car are the original IBM build card, the original owner’s manual and original key set. The car came from the factory loaded with just about every conceivable option including Flight Pitch Dynaflow transmission which was new for 1958. Buick’s advertising claimed you can “shift the pitch a million ways” with Flight Pitch. The “G” position is for “grade retard” to be used only without accelerator pressure on downgrades for smooth braking. This car also came equipped from the factory with Speedminder and Air Poise suspension. Air Poise was an air ride suspension system that utilized a pump in the engine bay connected to four ball sacks, one located on each corner of the car. While the systems were typically removed and replaced with coil springs by impatient owners, the owner was so picky that the original air ride engine pump equipment is still with the car although the ball sacks were removed during restoration. In the mid 1990s, the car was still in excellent original condition, but the original owner took the car to John’s Corvette Service, a respected restoration shop in Laconia, New Hampshire, and set out on a no-expense-spared restoration to the exact standards that the car came from the factory. All of the receipts from this vigilant and comprehensive restoration are included with the car. Following the restoration, the car was carefully stored in a climate controlled garage, and the car appears today as if the restoration took place just recently. The paint, chrome and trim are just about without flaw, and the interior is equally as beautiful. This is the first Limited Convertible to be offered in several years as they rarely change hands. Here is your chance to acquire what was not only Buick’s finest in 1958, but arguably GM’s best as well. absolutly must see and drive one of a kind.
